Zampa Versus The Prem

By: Steven | April 1st, 2008

We all know he’s crazy in the coconut, but every once in a while Capt’n Crazy decides to point out the problem. And so he did today. Zampa is not happy (or as Abramovitsj would say: “njot chappy”) about the Pirate-actions of the Premier League-teams. Teams like Chelsea go and steal away young talents at less rich clubs.

” It’s a shame that they opt for the youngsters when they have the means to buy them when they are fully developed. These clubs already have the best players in the world. It is wrong to rob these young stars from other clubs who live off growing talent. It means that a club like Palermo take on a boy when he is 12-years-old, he progresses through the youth academy, then when he gets to 16 or 17 and can sign his first professional deal, he gets taken away.

The club that raised the player gets nothing. This is profoundly wrong. First of all you’re harming the boys who are not ready to go to a different country and economically they are seriously harming the clubs in question.”

Ok, no reason to disagree here. Just look what happened to kids like Sam Dalla Bona and Vincenzo Camilleri. But isn’t it strange that Zampa comes out with it? I don’t see a lot of these things happening in Palermo. There’s also not a lot of players making the first team from the youth series, except for Rinaudo and Emo’tino. And didn’t we just kinda stole some youngsters from Pescara and the likes? Luckily, Zampa did it in a sensible way, and not the Crazy Lilo Foti way:

“Once upon a time there was pillaging, and this is something similar in that there are still wild people who use their power to reach their objectives.”

He’s dead on. It’s the truth. So, they throw all this money at these young kids and steal them away and what happens? Sometimes these kids don’t even get to “see the light” so to speak. Instead they just rot away in a richer club’s youth system til they hit reserves and then that’s it. There’s their ceiling.

Sure, he says crazy stuff sometimes…but then again, I’m usually laughing, so it’s not all that bad. hahaha

And just remember, kids, “Mutu is a gypsy”…

Yeah Zampa was def. pissed about that…Chelsea need to stop poaching from clubs in Southern Italy if they know what’s good for them. They already did so in Reggio Calabria.

just think, after the season we can start an overhaul of our backline. get rid of barzagli for sure, capuano and possibly zaccardo (although, i still don’t mind the guy). Keep Rinaudo, Balzaretti and of course, Emo’tino…AND i don’t know if you guys saw this, but Dellafiore’s (remember him?!) agent said he’s returning to play for Palermo next season. Maybe we can get Bovo as well…

We definitely need a better “captain” though. Andrea’s a joke.

Dellafiore AND Bovo returning would be so damn sweet. Zacc can stay, ain’t got no problems with him. Barzagli is no longer focused on playing for Palermo, so he can leave. Capuano, Guana…ship ‘em off as well. Cavani needs a lone spell at Pisa.

Cavani will be good to go next year. Amauri occupies his position currently and him leaving will be a blessing for Edinson. I think we will be a more dynamic team, Cavani’s movement and pace are excellent - Guidolin just never used them. He always had him playing off Amauri, which he simply can’t do. I like the look of Jankovic and Cavani, together with De Melo I think we can play a 4-4-2 or 4-3-1-2. This team needs some serious role players though. Guys like Maggio and Inler. Guys who rarely get the glory but will put in the work. Migliaccio is a great role player, we just need like 2 more.

I like Zaccardo and I hope he stays. Rinaudo for captain next season, Barzagli please get lost, you are the 2nd most hated man in Palermo after Guana

I wouldn’t mind keeping Zacco as long as he plays in central defense exclusively or else we buy a proper RW for next year. He seem to have lost most of his attacking confidence.

i agree about amauri i have been saying it all year he is hurting us because he makes our attack so predictable. We need to have fast fowards with good movement so that we can score goals even when amauri has an off day.

Romanista fan here but always admired the Rosanero. Plus, I like reading this page more than the “predictable” Roma page… I hope you guys can retool and be a force next year.

    Oh, snap@!1! Predictable Roma page?

Chris’ page is always a good read on the blackberry, on the terlet.

Jokes aside, kinda, now that our Fear and Loathing in Napoli is over (withdrawals have subsided to minor sweats), the season isn’t over, and next year the Champions League Silver will be tinted the most beautiful hue of ROSANERO!!!!!!

Screw anyone who thinks I’m asking for too much. It’s never too much.

Zampa said that about Chelsea because they want Giuseppe Prestia from Palermo. A great talented defender in our Giovanissimi Nazionali.
Why do you guys want Bovo? He is an uomo di merda and a bad player. Give him plus money to Genoa for Konko.
