Stadio La Favorità, Palermo
I warriors, brigate rosanero, siamo forti e vinceremo!
Preview
After our first game, people were happy. People started dreaming again. After our second game, at the potato field in Arty Fartyville, people went back to reality. Zenga is not a wizard, and this team still needs a lot of work to be competing for the top five. I don’t care about comments from within the team that talk about the Scudetto, or even breaking into the top four. I want 5th or 6th, and a good Coppa run. People will try to hit us using Zenga’s comments, but I don’t think anyone here really believes that we can achieve that. Let’s do this thing step by step.
Step 3 is Bari. The team with the ugliest logo in all of Italian football, and a shirt that probably doesn’t have much competition in the same department either. The Galletti are back in A, and are still undefeated. Of course, that doesn’t mean shit, as I’d prefer winning 19 and losing 19 to drawing 38. Do the math, and you’ll see why. Anyway, on Giornata 1 they surprisingly held Inter to a 1-1, so this isn’t a team to underestimate. This is also the second Southern Derby in three giornate, which will also increase the pressure on Zenga and the boys.
The main obstacle that Zenga will need to overcome, is our first half performance. It will be impossible to get a good result if our first halves stay like this.
Squad Status
Palermo
Liverani and Miggy are still out injured, and so is Hernandez. Haven’t had much fun from that guy, have we? We’ll most likely see Bresciano and Nocerino running down the flanks, with Pastore in support of our magic duo and Blasi making his debut as defensive mid. There’s a small possibility that Bertolo will start in favour of Bresciano, but after last week’s game I wouldn’t count on it too much.
Bari
The Bari Offside is a nice place, and they’ll be able to tell you more. New acquisitions Donato, Diamoutene and Almiron will most likely not be there. Up to you if that’s a good thing or not. Superstar keeper JF Gillet will be the man to look out for, it only remains unseen how much he will suffer from his adventure with the Belgian NT (5-0 loss to Spain, 2-1 loss in Armenia).

Categorical Matchup
Fear The Brow vs. The Fearsome Belgian: Push. Gillet is by far Bari’s strongest link. Rubinho could become ours, but he needs a little more work.
Berlin Wall vs. Who that?: Palermo. Seriously, there aren’t much teams in Serie A with a defense that can compete with ours. I don’t see guys like Stellini and Parisi doing the same thing.
Back-up Bonanza vs. Serie B+: Palermo. Will Blasi perform? Will Bresciano go Bresciano again? Will Nocerino work his ass off? With Pastore on the field, this battle’s ours.
Dynamic Duo v. Kutuzov the Nomad: Palermo. Kutuzov can be dangerous. Cavani and Miccoli are dangerous. ‘Nuff said.
Last Five Games
Palermo: WL
Bari: DD
Final Analysis
This preview is bleeding cockyness. And it should. There’s no way in hell that not winning against Bari is acceptable. They’re fresh out of B, their team isn’t ready yet and they got lucky against Bologna. If Zenga wants to put his money where his mouth is, this is the time. Not winning against the Galletti means one foot in the grave for ‘Coach Z’.
Prediction
3-1. Pastore, Micco, Cavani. Kutuzov.
MOTM:
Pastore
Remembering the Good Times
Se guardi in alto vedi
c’e’ un’aquila che vola
e’ il simbolo la fede
che sta nei nostri cuori….
Ed ecco siamo in gol
i rosa han fatto gol
la mia citta’ e’ in gol
io vivo per il gol
tifiamo tutti assieme
ed il successo viene con il gol!

I never had a problem with you guys. Always had much respect for Palermo but all of you are a bunch of racist. You can trip on me all you want, it doesn’t really get to me but you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Sub a targetstriker(Budan) for a midfielder(Bresciano) 15′ into the 2nd half when your team has finally begun to gain some momentum? What a genious move Walter.

I’m now really starting to believe that Walter Zenga has zero talent for managing a football team. We have the talent, but he’s just not doing anything with it.
We’re only three games in, but I’m already scared for the rest of the season. I don’t see us beating teams like Parma, Udinese and Samp like this. Hell, I don’t even see us scoring against them in the state we’re in right now. I expect a Zampa-rant later tonight, and a very quick sacking of ‘Coach Z’ if things don’t change in the next two weeks. Next up Parma, start shitting your pants, guys…

By the way, I still find it extremely funny that a certain team’s fans keep laughing at us for comments our coach made. I can’t recall anyone here ever talking about the scudetto. Some guys over there still tend to forget that last year they barely finished in front of us, and after three games in this season, they’re still behind us. 1 point after playing Juve and Genoa, yes, but still. And all that with what, four times our budget?

….and 10 times the financial problems….but you sell off some of your pieces so you can give a guy who can’t stay fit for the whole season ANOTHER contract extension. Brilliant!
Bad, bad luck today. Dominated the game and we were only able to draw level. Nonetheless, it could’ve been much worse. Happy to see Budan look dangerous two matches in a row.

That sentence is giving me nasty thoughts.
No, seriously, I’m disgusted by this game. We’ve had more than enough chances, Bari were nowhere, and we still need to rely on a third string striker weighing in at 150 kilo. Fuck that. Cavani was nowhere today, Bresciano should never ever be put on a footballfield again and Bovo needs to be shot in the fuckin’ face.
Thank God Balza, Pastore and the Croat were on the field. BTW, anyone else noticed the clear penalty not given?

A penalty and also a red card. Blasi should’ve been sent off at least twice in the 1st half.
What did Bovo do? It’s not his fault if his goalie is being an unreliable unibrowed butterfingers.

Nice goal from Budan, We were unlucky to not win 5-1.
Fuck these Roman homo’s 7/8 of them dont know shit about soccer cause if they did they wouldnt think they were giong to win the scudetto and CL every year.

I dont understand how you guys can make so much joke about our palermo players? Do you support Catania or Palermo? What the fuck is wrong with you guys going about calling them names, seriously, i rarely visit this blog anymore because of this. Sure you are a supporter and put time into your team but that doesnt mean you have to go call them names and everything. Make some constructive constructive critics instead

Yeah Dhaw sounds real Italian-American, heh, poser
Didn’t see the game but a fantastic result for Bari, with Budan’s goal marring an otherwise perfect afternoon. What happened to Zenga, I read he didn’t do a press conference?

Match statistics are here:
http://www.gazzetta.it/tr_xml_sics/2009/HTML/match.html?id_c=1320&id_e=27197&id_p=193605It just amazes me that we could only get a single goal! We had 50 crosses against their 12. 50! Plus we had a huge advantage in possession (60%/40%) and territorial advantage (65%/35%).
Whilst there are several players who had a below average game, when Cavani is not firing we’re in trouble. 10 shots on goal and barely anybody there to poach any fumbles or spills. A bit of luck would have helped too.
Before this game, I was thinking that only a win would
do. But to draw this way just confuses me. The pitch did us no favours either. This is a team we should have beaten by 2 or 3 goals. But it’s the final result that counts and this for Palermo (at home especially) is not good enough.Posted from

I think its pretty clear its a game we should have won however in reality its a team that also held inter to a draw. Im just glad fatty got the 90th minute goal otherwise we would have lost which wouldnt have been justified. Its a long season and we have alot of new players. Im kinda dissapointed but it isnt the end of the world yet.
