Stadio Tardini, Parma

I warriors, brigate rosanero, siamo forti e vinceremo!

Preview

Yeah, that’s right, two consecutive Budan opening pictures. What’s there to say about this game? First off, I don’t think I need to remind you guys of the importance of this duel. Both teams have gathered four points from three games, which isn’t bad for Parma but is near disastrous for us. The only result that is acceptable here is a win. But that was also the only acceptable result versus Bari AT HOME. And we all know how that one went. So, if this team has any selfrespect and love for la maglia, then a good performance and win in Parma is demanded.

Parma, on the other hand, have been keen on taking over the Palermo II role from Torino in recent times. With transfer target Dzemaili and former Palermitani Zaccardo, Ale Lucarelli, Stefano Morrone, Davide Lanzafame, Hernan Dellafiore AND Mister Guidolin, playing Parma is like kissing your cousin. She might look hot, but things just don’t seem right.

On our side, there’s also some former Prosciutto Power: Bresciano, Simplicio and Budan all came to Palermo from Parma, and I’m really counting on the last one to prove to his former team that last season was a one time scenario.

Squad Status

Palermo

Liverani and Hernandez are still out, but we might see the return of Signore Miggy. The big surprise would be the possible starting spot for Budan, who might replace Cavani. It’s a big gamble, but you never know if Budan suddenly turns out to be the scoring machine we missed ever since Toni left.

Lots of doubt in midfield, where Bresciano (please no!) and Simplicio and Nocerino and Bertolo will battle for two starting spots next to Blasi and the quasi untouchable Pastore. Bovo still in central defense, which blows.

Parma

The Parma Offside might give you more information, but all I know is that Dzemaili and Lanza will start off the bench, and Bojinov isn’t fit enough to be included in the team.

Categorical Matchup

Sketchybrow vs. A Little More Secure: Push. I’m still not convinced, although Rubinho did show some nice moves last week. Maybe Parma could be the game to start shining?

The 1995 Berlin Wall vs. This Is What An Ending Career Looks Like: Palermo. Last week’s defending was pretty iffy to say the least. Bovo is unreliable, and Balza was unable to cope with the constant threath of an extra player, thanks to Bresciano. On the other side of the field there’s a lot of players trying to revive their career or reaching the end of it slowly.

We’re Not So Sure Who To Play vs. Midtable: Palermo. If we can keep Bresciano off the field, this one should always be ours. Midfield looks to be the weakest link in Parma’s team.

Biggie Smalls v. Young Guns: Parma. Uh? Parma? Why is that? Because Miccoli still hasn’t found the net, Budan will need to prove his qualities and Biabiabiabia and Paloschi are a fuckin’ dangerous duo.

Last Five Games

Palermo: WLD
Parma: DWL

Final Analysis

I’m always afraid of doing this. Whenever I get cocky, we lose. Whenever I predict a loss, we draw. I’m not doing this now, too important.

Prediction

2-2. Budan, Budan, Paloschi, Paloschi. Zenga gets the sack, Zampa picks a B-list coach like Baldini over guys like Spalletti or Serse Cosmi and our season is already over before it starts.

MOTM:

Budan.

Remembering the Good Times

Se guardi in alto vedi
c’e’ un’aquila che vola
e’ il simbolo la fede
che sta nei nostri cuori….

Ed ecco siamo in gol
i rosa han fatto gol
la mia citta’ e’ in gol
io vivo per il gol
tifiamo tutti assieme
ed il successo viene con il gol!

anybody who caught the Juve game please tell me why we didnt make a move for Candreva. The guy is going to be the Italian Fabregas, there’s not a question in my mind he is the best passer of the ball Italy currently have from midfield.

ricci if im not mistaken asr is of the middle eastern brand. He caught roma playing recently on his tele he thought it was live but it was actually from 1982-83(27 year delay on his black and white) so he still think Roma are Scudetto champs and competitors.

Nobody with an above average intelligence ever said we were going to be Scudetto contenders, so the fact that you’re even trying to take us on that is pretty lame. And losing to a team like Bari is always a disaster.

Shouldn’t you be a little more concerned about what your bandwagon team or Ararat Yerevan is doing instead ?

quoted from another forum which I find funny.

    On Coach Z

ora ho capito perchè sulla maglia ha chaos z… z per zero punti in trasferta… e continuando così pure in casa…
    tra un po’ zero panchina…”

Now I dont wanna put blame on Coach Z but ref decisions last 3 games terrible.

    Fiorentina – Palermo 1-0

why can’t palermo do good transfers ? dont they have money ? pastore and bertolo is not enough for uefa europe leaugue. I am Turkish and fan of Galatasaray I can not watch full match of every palermo team but I play with Palermo in football manager game and I know the players. I watched the highlights of Bari game and Palermo is really lack of ambition while going on attacking. Palermo gave really quality players to Italian football but I dont think that is working anymore very well.

Zenga’s appointment is looking like a major fail at this point. I would think if he loses again midweek he’ll be the first coach to be let go this season.

Walter, la mancanza di Liverani non può giustificare tutto!
We have some great players so the problem is obviously Coach Z. This season is not another fucking “anno per crescere”. We are meant to break into Europe and anything less is a failure.

Just an afterthought here, but I was just wondering if indeed myself and some others here are being impatient. We are only four games in and Z has only been with us for two months. Parma are no easy-beats and Bari are showing themselves to be a pretty decent side.
Last year we all praised Ballardini – but we easily forgot our piss-poor performances away from home. So, my my more accepting side say we should hold onto to Z for now and assess ourselves over the winter break. True, it may be too late by then, but I don’t think a new coach at this stage will be that effective either.

Zenga just has no clue of what kind of style he wants to play. True, he has no players that can pass the ball in midfield but Ballardini has had probably his 2 best players at Lazio frozen out of the squad and they are playing some champagne football.

Basically, we needed somebody who was calm on the ball in midfield and play simple and we just didn’t get that at all.

geez I thought you guys were gonna challenge for the scuddetto :)

Lets see what the Roma game brings. I think it will be a good clash, and I think that Roma will win but only by 1 goal. But with a defensive pairing of Burdisso and Juan you guys will struggle.
