So Where Do We Go From Here?
By: Steven | April 20th, 2009
Six games to go. With one of Genoa, Fiorentina and Roma taking the last CL-spot, that leaves us with five teams for two Europa League (or whatever it’s called next year) spots. This is how it is right now:
4 Genoa 57 16 10 4 2 30 15 16 6 5 5 13 15 32 16 9 7 43 30 13
5 Fiorentina 55 15 11 2 2 23 11 17 6 2 9 21 23 32 17 4 11 44 34 10
6 Roma 52 16 11 3 2 28 18 16 4 4 8 23 30 32 15 7 10 51 48 3
7 Palermo 49 16 12 0 4 33 22 16 3 4 9 13 19 32 15 4 13 46 41 5
8 Cagliari 48 17 10 3 4 20 9 15 4 3 8 18 22 32 14 6 12 38 31 7
9 Lazio 47 16 7 4 5 21 20 16 7 1 8 23 25 32 14 5 13 44 45 -1
And this is what we’re up against. (’th’ = home, ‘op’ = away)
4 Genoa 57 : op BOL – th SAM – op ATA – th CHI – op TOR – th LEC
5 Fiorentina 55 : th ASR – th TOR – op CAT – th SAM – op LEC – th ACM
6 AS Roma 52 : op FIO – th CHI – op CAG – th CAT – op ACM – th TOR
7 Palermo 49 : op ACM – th CAG – op SIE – th LAZ – op ATA – th SAM
8 Cagliari 48 : op SAM – op PAL – th ASR – op REG – th INT – op UDI
9 Lazio 47 : th ATA – op INT – th UDI – op PAL – th REG – op JUV
I suck at predictions, but I’m gonna try. This is what I see happening:
4 Genoa 57 : 3 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 1 + 3 = 12 => 69 points
5 Fiorentina 55 : 1 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 0 = 9 => 64 points
6 AS Roma 52 : 1 + 3 + 1 + 3 + 1 + 3 = 12 => 64 points
7 Palermo 49 : 1 + 3 + 3 + 1 + 3 + 1 = 12 => 61 points
8 Cagliari 48 : 1 + 0 + 1 + 3 + 0 + 1 = 6 => 54 points
9 Lazio 47 : 1 + 0 + 3 + 1 + 3 + 1 = 9 => 56 points
Meaning: we need to hope for a surprise Inter – Juve in the Coppa. To be optimistic: everything is still possible. Udinese beat Fiorentina last weekend, and Genoa lost to Lazio. I mean, shit is still possible. Imagine Fiorentina beating Roma next weekend, and us re-taking the San Siro like we did before. That would mean us being tied with Roma. And then everything is still possible. And now that we have done this, I’m not doing any predictions until the end of the season. We’ll see what happens.

i take back the statement i made earlier that zaccardo would not fit on this team. he’d make a perfect fit know. he could back-up every defensive position on the pitch

Does it seem ridiculous to anyone else that it’s like a 1 1/2-2 year ban for cocaine? If it was a performance-altering drug, I could see that, but this is a recreational drug. Stupid for him to use it (or to get busted for the reason Giro said) but what’s the rational behind the lengthy ban….because the young Palermitani look up to him?

Big Mo’s reaction to the news: http://www.fusirosanero.it/newsdet.asp?id=45438
Unthinkable. Try picture a 6′4” grizzly squatting in the corner sobbing like a girl.

There is no one to blame but himself dude is an idiot why bump lines a couple of days before a game. He deserves every day he gets.

I just can’t get my head around it. Why the fuck would he do something like that? He’s as stupid as he is big…

You know, just when things were “calm” by Palermo standards, something like this happens.
Seriously, when was the last time the team was cruising along with no bumps for an extended period like the one we were experiencing?

yeah lorenzo, it was too good to last, i expected something to rock the boat, but honestly, not this.

Serenity and Rosanero were never meant to be.
Back on topic, to me it seems not so much a Flachi/Mutu-situation as Borriello-situation. If that’s the case here, I hope societa’ can get some reduction in penalty, but if not, they should rescind the contract at the spot.
