Silly Season Starting Early
By: Steven | May 22nd, 2009
Ladies and gentlemen, we will see another young South American florish in the pink and black next season. According to Mediagol, La Gazzetta, Zamparini and Banfield’s president, all that is needed to bring Nicolas Bertolo to Palermo is a signature. Which is most likely to happen tomorrow.
Bertolo scored 8 goals in 28 matches for Banfield this season, as a midfielder. Not bad, huh? He could be the new Cavani, but he could also be the new Farias. We’ll see.
In other rumours: Davide Ballardini is going to Milan, only to be replaced by Delio Rossi in Palermo. “Bullshit”, Nutto Zamparini said, “Ballardini is way too unproven and immature for Milan.” Still, it’s a fact that Milan are looking for a young and talented coach (see Allegri) to replace Carletto when he goes to Chelsea. I don’t think Balla’s leaving, but I think bringing in Delio Oh-no as a replacement would be even worse than reinstating our good friend Guidolin once more.
And then there’s also the huge bag of names being thrown around for next season. I have the feeling that the mercato rumours come up earlier every year. Some names:
* Enzo Maresca: would be awesome. Quality midfielder, and always had a little something for him while at Sevilla.
* Whatshisname Zuniga: Another young, talented South American. Too bad we’re not the only ones chasing him.
* José Talamonti: said he loves Palermo, and I love him too.
* Renato Civelli: free agent in june, could provide some back-up for the backline now that Sniffy McSnort is out of the picture.
* Robert Acquafresca: never gonna happen.
And then there’s also the constantly returning rumour (it’s getting as annoying as that mosquito in your room that just won’t die, no matter how many times you decide to flame it down with a lighter and a deodorant) of ‘Nilmar to Palermo’. Once more, The Nutjob: “Yes, we are still chasing Nilmar.” Fuck that. Kid’s gonna cost us 20 mil, with a huge change of becoming the biggest mistake since Ernesto Farias and Denis Godeas. Fuck Nilmar, you can buy two Acquafresce for that. And L’Arciere as a back-up for when one of your starting strikers is a) out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury, or b) a glass man.
Peace out!

Maresca would be huge for you guys, and very possible given the way he’s been flying under the radar in Italy. The only question would be his salary, I imagine. He’d join Miccoli as the other-Juventino-sent-in-exile-to-Iberia-by-Moggi. I’m sure they (and Nocerino) would have great things to tell players like Lanzafame and Kjaer who have been linked with an eventual move to Juve.

If we sign Maresca, I think our midfield is good enough for next season. Maybe one younger guy if Guana moves.

Maresca would be enormous, a no-nonsense midfielder with some class about him. I don’t think he will leave UCL bound Sevilla though.

And he’s only 29.
BTW, it struck me while watching Entourage yesterday how much Kevin Dillon and Sergio Pellissier look like brothers.

It seems to me like Sabatini is ignoring proven players and just going for 20 year olds. We’re linked to two 20 year olds from Ascoli. Great job Sab, you’re a regular Wenger.

Im excited for Bertolo, I hope we can make a move and secure Pastore. Do we have a shot this weekend versus atalanta with all these injuries.

I believe Zamparini pretty much gave up on going after Pastore…

@Fcopp, it’s from Giornale di Sicilia scanned and put up by http://www.rosanerogirls.it. The Edicola section is updated daily.
I’m with you Ricci. Seriously, if Zampa&Co. let Balla go they better not come to me talk about “project” ever again.

Yo guys/females(kat) the only thing we should be worried about is Atalanta they are a dangerous team and we are at 60% percent right now w/o Cavani/Liverani/Kjaer and of course snuff oluffogisi(moris). If we make Europe, I feel like talent will come.
Balla isnt leaving after this season he definitely feels like he can get more out of team with some of his own player. I think he will be around for atleast one more season try to bring in his own player and bring us into the top 4.
1 more thing I like that Sabatini is bring in youth but I dont like how he is trying to make us become the new Lazio. They have been get better talent after he left…

well, i dont have internet for a week, and it looks like we’ve lost arguably our three most impt players for arguably the most impt game of the season and zamp has f’ed up with our best coach in years
but the good news is that i just saved 15% by switching to geico

Giro, when Zampa goes on a craze and starts licking Delio’s ass, there’s nothing Balla can do.

I think he will be around for atleast one more season try to bring in his own player and bring us into the top 4.
But that’s the thing, the management is not letting him bring his own players – at least that’s what the media are saying. If they keep on ignoring his opinions and requests Balla could be tempted to take offer from another club where he’d be given more authority over squad selection. In any case, I don’t believe BBilan are after Balla tho.

Zampa doesn’t buy Balla players he wants, then tries to meddle with tactical choices, and scathes him publically at every given opportunity. It is plausible Balla have had it with Zampa’s pushy-ways and Sab’s incompetence..etc etc, and is about to throw in the towel.
