Review: Worst Team in Sicily - Grande Milan

By: Steven | December 1st, 2008

You know…sometimes pictures say more than a thousand words…

Counting with Fabriz’: “Thies ies 1.”

“Ref, it’s for you. Mister Blackwell on the phone, he doesn’t like the matching colors.”

Jan-culo-vski: “If it’s got long hair, it’s a girl.”

“Marek, why are you cheating on me?”

“See that ugly motherfucker? He tried to touch my ass…”

“I love you guys!”

What I Liked:

Marco Amelia. The transformation of the Horny Housewife is unbelievable. From a guy with zero self esteem, to football hero in three games.

The return of the real Marco Bresciano. This is why we bought him, this is why he still gets playing time and this is why my 2006 Bresciano-shirt hasn’t been torched yet.

Antonio Nocerino and Edison Cavani, because they finally showed their real powers.

Fabrizio Miccoli, for being Fabrizio Miccoli.

And last but not least, the entire backline. But especially Moris. Cassani was awesome, Balzaretti was an extra attacker and Bovo kept it thighter than a 13-year old’s ass, but Moris is a real Palermo-hero. Moris Carrozzieri, per sempre uno di noi!

What I Didn’t Like:

Substitutions in the 85th minute when you’re already 3-1 up.

Pagelle:

Amelia 8: One hell of a match. Stopped an imaginary penalty, and was only beaten by a second imaginary penalty.
Cassani 7: Great performance, caused danger when he moved upfront. Slowed down a little in the second half.
Carrozzieri 8: I think we have found the new Eugenio Corini. I really do.
Bovo 6: Did well, but looked a little slow.
Balzaretti 7: Same as Cassani. +0.5 for his assist on the 3-0.
Nocerino 7: Finally a good Noce-game. Still not Gattuso, but who cares?
Liverani 6,5: Nice assist, bu he’s so unbelievably slow…
Bresciano 7: Great game, even with a flu on his body.
Simplicio 7: Caused danger from the start, easy but merited goal.
Guana: senza capelli
Cavani 7: Finally the real Cavani…
Succi: senza vota
Miccoli 8: Fantastic game. Another Palermo hero.
Kjaer: senza vota

All. Ballardini 7,5: Finally showed what he can do when his team is fully fit.

Facts:

Palermo: Amelia; Cassani, Carrozieri, Bovo, Balzaretti; Nocerino, Liverani, Bresciano; Simplicio (Guana 91), Miccoli (Kjaer 87), Cavani (Succi 92)

Milan: Abbiati;Zambrotta, Bonera, Maldini, Jankulovski; Flamini (Emerson 57), Pirlo, Ambrosini (Shevchenko 57); Seedorf, Ronaldinho, Pato (Inzaghi 29)

Ref: Rocchi

Missed penalty: Ronaldinho 27 (M)

Giornata 13’s Androberto Guarraciolo Award:

Rolandinho. Dude, really, two dives? Fuck off!

Cefalu IS amazing - I’m surprised I left that out. Steven - right on, my man, about Bagheria! Most of my family is from Bagheria and Aspra - coastal fishing town literally like 5-10 min away from Bagheria. I LOVE it. I’m sure you’ve seen the pics on facebook though.

Agrigento is/was too touristy. It was pretty from down below, but the actual archaeological site was just way too rebuilt for my taste.

If you are into archaeology, though, Morgantina is another great place to visit. It is way out in the county (picture sweeping views and the distant sound of cow/sheep bells on the wind).

Segesta is also cool if you go beyond the temple. Up the hill is a spectacular Greek theater and the remains of the earliest Mosque on Sicily. There are also some Late Bronze Age houses.

Mozia, a small island off the coast of Marsala is basically and archaeological park full of Phoenician remains - they made the famous Imperial purple from snail shells (murex) there.

As you can see, I like Sicily.

i am reffering to c-fag. Im in england and i see him play week in week out. love him or hate him. even the most hardcore liverpool fan will admit, he is utter class. I thought that messi may win the ballon d’or over him but i can honestly say he deserved it. I know that he dives, but he has improved on that, but his strength, pace and god damn amazing technique that hasnt been seen before. If you watched him as much as i do, and you appreciate football, you’d at least be in awe even if you hate him. Im not jumping on the hate ronaldo band wagon. Hes better than messi or torres or ronaldinho will ever be, he has more to his game. He is like george best, but dare i say it, better.

Hahaha, Standard just tore Sampdoria a new one. Except for Nicaise, every single one of their players would be an asset to Palermo.

Someone who acts like he does certainly doesn’t get the label “class”. Yes, I admit he’s talented and that he had a great year last year, but he still has his flaws. He still rarely shows up in big games, he often times flashes his “skill” at the wrong times and he’s a headcase who puts himself ABOVE the team. Remember his stubborness over the summer? I’ve said it before but the only thing bigger than his salary is his head. If I were to build a team from scratch, he would not be my centerpiece, that’s for sure. Look how wildly inconsistent he’s been this season. At times he’s disappeared altogether during matches. Plus, there are people who are easily in his talent level who aren’t as big of pricks as he is. I’d take Messi over C-F*g any day.

noway. messi isnt half the player. and last season ronaldo scored against chelsea, arsenal, liverpool, he scored that awesome header against roma at the olimpico AND scored in the champs league final. i would hardly say that is disappearing. id say thats coming up with the goods. but if i was to build a team around 3 players they would be ronaldo, gerrard and rooney. messi may make the bench :P

Yeah Ronaldo scored in the Champion League final and then missed the crucial penalty in the shootout. If it weren’t for the other overrated idiot in John Terry, Chelsea would’ve won, but I digress.

Messi is easily over half the player and then some. I’d never build a team around Ronaldo and worse yet Rooney. He looks like a peasant and is probably one of the most overrated attackers in the world. Even Cavani would’ve bagged an impressive tally at United given the talent around him. Rooney’s an overweight peasant lol.

Steven, you let the secret out on Capo d’Orlando! I spent 11 days in a town nearby when I was in Sicilia last. My cousin has an apartment overlooking the beach there. Crystal blue waters overlooking the Isole Eolie. Not to mention the unbelievable Pizza Norma (pizza con melenzane, ricotta salata, pomodoro e mozzarella) and even granita e brioche in the mornings. Sooo good.
I’ll just get back to my kangaroo steak now.

Let’s not forget Crynaldo’s woeful performance against Barca in which he ballooned a penalty at Camp Nou. His penalty taking is alla De Rossi in big games.

Im not jumping on the hate ronaldo band wagon.

You should. I’ve been on it since ‘05.

fozz you normally speak alot of sense but what you said about c.ronaldo is the biggest load of nonsense ive ever heard!!!! ronaldinho was 10 times the player ronaldo can only do tricks against wigan and the like. i have seen him consistently and if players actually stepped up instead of backing off him he wouldnt half as good. and messi is twice the players everyone in the world knows that he just wasnt last season. better than ronaldinho ive never heard anything like it

dont get me wrong hes an exceptional player but it if he didnt play for man utd he wouldnt have scored half as many. miccoli is going to score 20 gols this season and we will finish 5th-7th. what you think about pazzini coming to us i like him but he just cant finish but maybe he would for us?
