Pro or Con: The Giampaolo Pazzini Debate
By: Steven | December 23rd, 2008Winter break is here, and the last thing I want to do is discuss the Lazio-game. I’ve already done a mid-season evaluation, so what else is there to talk about? The Giampaolo Pazzini-transfer! The Lord and all of you know that I don’t like Pazzini, but I’ll try to have an objective look at our newest possible colpo.
Hell no, I don’t want him.
This is the easy part. Pazzini is an ass. Everytime he walks onto a field, it looks like he shit his pants and realizes he has to complete the entire game in those underpants. Added to that is that he hasn’t had a fantastic game since he scored that hattrick at Wembley.
Another reason we don’t need him, is Cavani – Miccoli. As long as they stay healthy, there’s nothing to worry about. They have a combined tally of 13, which isn’t all that bad. Bringing in Pazzini means that Cavani might be held back, causing him to not progress fully.
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.
Why would I want Pazzini? Because, after all, he still is a guy that bags 10 goals a season without being a starter. Imagine him being a starter. And just maybe this move is what he needs, just like Caracciolo to Brescia or Tuffo to Fiorentina. His arrival would also mean another young Italian on the team, which can never be bad.
And just imagine something happening to Miccoli or Cavani. The only backup we have is Levan. Succi, I don’t even consider him a player. Or are we going to rely on this kid?

In the end, Pazzini is a no-go for me. Not because of his possible lack of talent, but because of the price. Paying 9 million for an unproven striker is a lot, is too much. If we don’t find an extra attacker, we can bring back Cani, who scored the winner for Ascoli this weekend.

More transfer news (God, I love this time of year): official interest in Motta and Konko, while Napoli also want Raggi.

I love this time of year also .. hope to see all of our crap out the door .. lots of one way tickets i hope. No loans, just get rid of the losers plaguing this squad.
My christmas wish is a season long injury for Liverani also. He holds back this team and makes others do all his work which has repercussions throughout the 11 men.
Pazzini can fk off to sampdoria .. no way should we even spend half of what they want for him .. if we are goign to spend big money lets land Buonanotte from south america and a decent backup striker.
Imagine we could land Buonanotte, Defour, Pulzetti and a backup striker. Would probablly cost us 20 million euros all together but zampa has made a fortune from this squad and there is no way he has respent what he recouped from this summer. Also he has his own big bank account he can use to bring in some names.
Lets also not forget some changes at some of the wealthy but crap EPL teams. The likes of Sunderland and Blackburn will be willing to pay decent money for crap we have on our books like bresciano. Tis the season to cash in… Ching ching!

Love the Christmas-parody. Defour might not happen in january. Standard is trying to keep most of the squad together, and cash in in june/july.

9 m on a bust could cripple us

Would definitely be happy with Motta and Konko. I want a real STRIKER!!

Both Motta and Konko can play in midfield too, as well as defense. Konko would completely change the way the team plays.

Sounds awesome Gigi, but that’s a summer mercato. Most teams don’t sign more than 2 players at least over the winter break.

Lorenzo – that’s awesome! Where in Sweden are you? Are you doing Erasmus?

Ricci, I think he’ll know some Italian by now. Scandinavians, like Belgians and Dutch, pick up languages quite easily. And face it, without a basic knowledge of Italian, you get nowhere in Sicily.

Pazzini actually WAS a starter last season, Steven, apart from the few matches when Bobo was playing awesome and replaced him. He was mostly useless then, too; the only difference was that then he was being petulant on the pitch rather than on the bench.
I have a lingering fear he’ll wake up and actually start trying to play instead of pouting the moment he leave Florence, but that aside, if Corvino can get the €9-10 million he’s after for him, I doubt many Fiorentina fans will shed any tears.
