Preview: Worst Team in Serie A - Second Worst Team in Serie A
By: Steven | February 14th, 2008I’m copying the Channel 4-preview this week, as a result of my lack of time. If you’re working for a magazine, you gotta put other things a little bit on hold. Expect me to be back soon.
Francesco Guidolin and his team of “little girls” face a decisive match in their season, as failure to beat bottom of the table Cagliari could well see him sacked.
On Tuesday President Maurizio Zamparini flew in for a brief but intense talk with the squad and was expected to fire the Coach after insulting him in the Press. Among other choice quotes he called the players “little girls” and said he was going to give them all “a kick in the backside.”
Guidolin has to be on his last chance after losing four of the last five games, but he couldn’t be in a worse situation going into this game, as Fabrizio Miccoli, Amauri and Roberto Guana are all suspended. This leaves precious few options upfront, so Edison Cavani should get space a fortnight after a touchline row with the tactician, backed by Mark Bresciano and Bosko Jankovic.
Cagliari would have been easy pickings a month ago, but for the first time this season they have gone three games on the trot unbeaten. It would be remarkable if the Sardinians managed to avoid relegation after such a disastrous start, but they are still propping up the table.
Joaquin Larrivey looks set to keep his place upfront despite a disastrous performance where he was booed off the field last week. Jeda scored his first goal for the club in that 1-1 draw with Parma and receives support from Pasquale Foggia.
History is on Cagliari’s side, as they haven’t lost here since December 2004 and came away with a splendid 3-1 victory last season, albeit aided by Giuseppe Biava’s first half dismissal. The record between the teams at the Barbera is totally balanced with two wins and two draws apiece.
Keep an eye on: Alberto Fontana (Palermo) – His spectacular saves, including a Francesco Tavano penalty, have been the only things keeping the Rosanero afloat.
Last season: Palermo 1-3 Cagliari
Form guide: Palermo (L L L W L) Cagliari (L L W D D)
——————————————————————————–
Palermo (probable): Fontana; Zaccardo, Biava, Barzagli, Balzaretti; Simplicio, Migliaccio, Caserta; Jankovic, Bresciano; Cavani
Cagliari (probable): Storari; Ferri, Lopez, Bianco, Agostini; Biondini, Conti, Parola; Foggia, Jeda; Larrivey

Guidolin is like an autistic child. I was screaming at my computer for Caserta for Tedesco at around the 55th-60th minute. Guidolin gets a red card and 2 minutes later what happens? Caserta for Tedesco. Guidolin = severely mentally ill.

GUIDOLIN YOU F***ING IDIOT! Bresciano for Jankovic? You should’ve taken out a defender instead you half-wit! Unfortunately since we won today, he stays with us another week. blech

I think Zampa will fire his ass. We seriously got outplayed half the game by Cagliari. Cagliari is horrrrrrible, Foggia is the most selfish POS diver I’ve ever seen, I don’t want him anywhere near Palermo. Jankovic is twice the player of Foggia. Jankovic just starting to mesh well with Cavani and the wingers and then he gets taken off.

Jankovic is Nasty!!!!!! he needs to start every game

This guy can’t be serious. You beat Cagliari. Congratulations. I’m pretty sure I could round up 10 guys and we could give them a game. I can’t wait till he puts the 3 man defense against Milan. Guana’s back too next week.

Zampa won’t fire him because of the embarassment he’s caused already by firing and re-hiring this man…He should have gone with his instinict the first time he fired him and kept him out…I know there was no one else to coach them but I’m pretty sure the boys could do a good job coaching themselves at this point…instead of having this nit-wit coaching.
I’m happy Palermo won though…it makes me feel a whole lot better after milans draw.
And you guys are right that’s why when people ask me what my faveorite team is i always say palermo and milan…I love them equally the same.

So, what’s your pick for next week? This game freaks me out, but Milan is playing like a sack of shit as well…

Steven - i think alot of it is dependent on how well Milan plays against Arsenal in the CL this week. If they lose, things obviously look better for Palermo.

As much as I hate to say it, I still hope Milan crushes the Youth World Team.

Hey guys, I missed the game. Did Barzagli actually play like he gave a shit?

Barzagli was an improvement from last week but still looked somewhat distracted. He almost made an assist to Jeda, too.

Your backing me between a rock and a hard place here steven.
I don’t know who I will pick…because I love the both.
I will be happy if either one win…but I’m rooting for a draw or for milan to take it because and this is why…palermo aren’t really trying to qualify for the CL anymore so that’s why…DON’T HATE ME!

Ro - we’re still looking to qualify for UEFA!!

Oh like I said don’t hate me…Im sorry…I’m not going to pick next time because I don’t want to offend my milan friends or the palermo ones so i’m staying neutral when they play each other…who ever wins wins and that’s it…like I said I’ll be happy either way. Oh and I’ll be even more happy if Inter loses.

Ro, I hope your a girl…

Yes I am and why?

Because you can’t choose.

How am I supposed to choose?
.
One is from the town I was born in and the other has been a family favorite for three generations.
.
Who would you choose if you were in my position…now keep in mind my dad is also 6′2 and 250+ lbs…all he has to do is look at you the wrong way and he can crush you.Posted from
