Preview: The Sacking of Ranieri

Stadio Olimpico, Torino
Palermo Boys, we are here. We beat your women and drink their beer, Palermo Boys, we are here.
Overview
It’s time to put an end to the celebrations after the Reggina game. Giornata six, big test number three. If half of your games after six games count as a big test, you should be happy with ten or twelve points. Test number one was passed succesfully after whooping those giallorossi wolftitsuckers, but we failed test two against Napoli. Sunday, it’ll be the biggest test until now. We will be paying a visit to Penitentiary FC in their Lega Pro-stadium. Do you guys remember our last trip to the black-and-white side of Turin? I certainly do, as it was the biggest disgrace I ever had to endure as a Palermo-fan. It also (for the first time) sealed the faith of Stefano Colantuono. So why not return the favor this year?
Let’s face it: Juve 2008 isn’t Juve 2007. They drew Samp and Catania, and barely saved a point in Belarus against BATE. No Très-e-gay, no Gigi, no consistency. This is the moment boys, the moment to shut up every single one of those 1.248 Juventini in the Olimpico. And yes, I know, we already had our revenge for last year’s can of whoopass, but I wouldn’t mind a second serving.
Squad Status
Palermo
Again:I don’t see many changes happening in the line-up. Everything looked pretty good against Reggina, so why change a winning team? The only thing I (and you) would change, is Liverani. But I think we all know it’s not happening. I think he has somekind of sketchy deal with Zampa.
Guana (yes!), Budan and Bresciano are out for the game, which means:
Probable Lineup:
Amelia; Cassani, Carrozzieri, Bovo, Balzaretti; Nocerino, Liverani, Migliaccio; Simplicio; Cavani, Miccoli
Juventus
Amauri + 10 other guys. Go visit the Juventus Offside.
Probable Lineup:
Manninger; Grygera, Legrottaglie, Chiellini, De Ceglie; Camoranesi, Poulsen, Sissoko, Nedved; Amauri, Del Piero
Categorical Matchup
Caesar vs. Mini-Gigi: Palermo. Normally I’d give Manninger the same chances, but he doesn’t really look as good as at Siena last year. The two goals against BATE might have shaken him up a little.
Bash Brothers vs. Shit, There’s Talent: Push. Moris and Bovo are one of the hottest defensive pairs of the moment, but Juve’s got The Schnozz and De Ceglie. Equal odds.
Still The Arab! vs. Mayhem: Juventus. Come on, the Juve-midfield is a class apart guys. Even with Nocerino and Miggy on the field.
Still Not Convinced vs. Hero: Juve. Mighty Mouse is kicking ass, but without Cavani scoring any goals, things might get fucked up. Del Piero shows glimpses of class, while Amauri looks even more like a beast than last year.
Final Analysis
Juventus isn’t in the best of shapes right now, and that might be our chance. I expect the guys to know that beating Juve means that we leave them behind, and that we can count ourselves among the big boys in Serie A. At least for one week, that is. I just hope that Liverani plays his first good match of the season, that Cavani finds the net and that Amauri will remember the good times he had when he was still ‘Our Boy’. As said before: I wouldn’t mind seeing him score twice, just as long as Micco makes it one more.

Classy, Alessio. Thanks for the congratulations, hopefully this is the kick in the ass that Juve needs and they can get their season started. Marchisio should always be on the field, that kid has a very bright future ahead of him.

Sadly, I don’t see it happening. I wish none of our players went to internationals though, they don’t deserve it. We’ve got a long way to getting back to looking like a team.

KJ – I actually didn’t sleep in, but i stayed away from here because i wanted to watch the game on my tv rather than on a crappy stream. I had to wait til 11 am (CT) to watch the game.
Palermo played well in my opinion. They utterly dominated the midfield. And, isn’t it ironic that mr. sissoko was sent to the showers early for just utter recklessness? HAHAHAHA

Wow. You guys are having a great start to the season.
First Roma and now Juve. I only hope that Inter do as well.
Bravo Palermo!

“Tedesco – old”
Haha, spot on, spot on. Alessio, thanks man, shows you’re a class act.
Just a quick way of looking to far ahead: imagine Napoli, Lazio and Inter dropping points next week, and Catania getting trashed by us…first place? I’ll be creaming my pants multiple times if it happens.
Anyway, we beat last year’s number 2 and 3, but no need to start dreaming already. Ballardini, we owe you man.

Moris the Barbarian was simply awesome. He brings a “grinta” to our defense that we have not seen before. What a buy…
Gotta give Zamparini alot of credit too. Bringing in Ballardini was the best thing he couldve done. Think of where we’d be if Colantuono was still at the helm. Actually, don’t…I’d rather not think about that.

I just hope we carry this momentum throughout the season. The last two seasons we looked very good in the beginning then began to tanks towards the end. I dont think Balla would let that happen. I watch Miccoli’s post match interview he look healthy i hope it was nothing serious cause he is the motor to our Ferrari right now. With out him we would be in relegation right now. I thought last year we tanked mostly cause of him being injuried.
I wish we could make up the Udinese game right now. I have a feeling the out come would be very different. Also who would of thought that the upcoming Derby would have Palermo (2nd) vs. Catania (3rd). Gonna be a sick game.

Lorenzo, I agree thank god we got Moris “the barbarian” rather then Loria “the mistake”

I like the call up of Nocerino. But how is Miccoli being overlooked?

Ballardini has certainly got the big coglione! To bring on 19-year-old Sneeze boy late in the game when scores are deadlocked with Juve was a move 99.9% of all the other Serie A coaches would never have made.
I’ve always respected a coach bold enough to bring on a young kid to fuck shit up.

i herd Budan might be ready for a derby appearance….

Miccoli already said he will be ready for the derby. He’s got two weeks to recover.

thankfully miccoli didn’t get called up he would get injured or something and be out for us, we need that man badly.

No matter what he deserved a call up. He is better then Pepe and most of the other Italian strikers. He is the leading Italian goal scorer right now and is the Second in the whole league. What has Pepe and everyone else have over him? Esp our old fallen hitman Luca Toni he had a horrible Euro Cup campaign. Im just stating the facts Miccoli is on better form then any other Italian striker right now.

of course he deserved a call up, i wasn’t trying to dispute that. But for the sake of Palermo it is good he didn’t get it because we need him fit. maybe Lippi had concerns about his fitness, who knows, but i for one do not mind, i think Miccoli will have himself worked into the team by the time South Africa comes along.

i think Miccoli will have himself worked into the team by the time South Africa comes along.
As long as he stays consistently healthy, I don’t see why not.

Colin, Lippi couldn’t call him up because he’s injured.
But, yeah, the inclusion of Sucka Toni is still bullshit.Posted from

I’m with Colin. Fab Fabriz’ deserves a call up, but on the other hand i’m praying it’s not gonna happen. He can barely stay healthy playing only Serie A-games, and we still depend too much on him.

miccoli is better attacker than any on national team but i hope he not go because we need him more than rest of italia

and moris and bovo are amazing to! if we keep this form up we can get champions league and i will go to every match home and away!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted from

they are comparing ballardini to sacchi! haha hes been very good! zampa must be laughing! in january if we sign guilherme as cover for miccoli (and long term replacement hes going to be the next big brazilian) and defour for the midfield we can challenge for champions league

and i learn that levan is ours i thought he was on loan!!! as long as we get jankovic back next summer i want him to reach potential

Steven – your sources were correct. The rumors surrounding Palermo and Defour are picking up steam

Serbian can stay where he is. He had wrong attitude, thinking he is too cool for Palermo. He only saw us as, to put it in his own words, a fine “show window” for big club scouters. Plz we don’t need none of that here.
