I warriors, brigate rosanero, siamo forti e vinceremo!

Preview
We’ve been over this too many times this season, and there’s only one conclusion: the season is already fucked up, even with 10+ games to go. Standings or results ain’t got nothing to do with that: 08-09 is just another season in which we have failed to progress. We haven’t scored in three games, gained only one point out of those games, and are now facing Fiorentina.

And maybe it’s better to be facing them now, than next month. Crazy, i know, but listen to this. Before last year’s andata game against Fiorentina, we put down a horrible string of results. Still, we ravaged them. Fiorentina was in a crisis back then, just like us. And the Purple boys are in some sort of crisis right now as well. Prandelli’s threatening to quit because of the lack of support, and calcio-wise things aren’t going well either. They haven’t lost in 6 games, but their football has been disgusting.

Squad Status

Palermo

Everyone’s in, except for the Balkan Fatty and Tick Tock Hernandez. The terrible thing is that most sites are claiming that Guana is getting a start. Which would be disastrous.

Probable Lineup:
Amelia; Cassani, Carrozzieri, Bovo, Balzaretti; Guana, Liverani, Nocerino; Simplicio; Cavani, Miccoli

Fiorentina

Same here, I presume. Check Ted’s Fiorentina Offside for more info.

Probable Lineup:
Frey; Zauri, Gamberini, Dainelli, Pasqual; Donadel, Melo, Montolivo; Semioli, Gilardino, Mutu

Categorical Matchup

I’m not doing this thing this time, and there’s two reasons for that. 1) I couldn’t stand watching the entire game last week, and 2) I don’t seem to know anything about our boys anymore. Nobody’s playing like they used to, and it just looks as if our boys suddenly changed personalities and became Reggina.

Final Analysis

We haven’t won or scored in three games, while Fiorentina is on a 6-game unbeaten run. The only thing I’m hoping, is that the team has been thinking a lot for the last week, and have figured out that Ballardini’s ass is on the line because of their terrible performances. What do I expect? Not much, to be honest. But hell just might freeze over tomorrow…

Previous Encounters:

We won 2-0 at home last year, followed by 2 defeats.

Prediction
2-1. Cavani opens the score, Mutu shuts the door.

MOTM:

Bresciano. For not being around.

Se guardi in alto vedi
c’e’ un’aquila che vola
e’ il simbolo la fede
che sta nei nostri cuori….

Ed ecco siamo in gol
i rosa han fatto gol
la mia citta’ e’ in gol
io vivo per il gol
tifiamo tutti assieme
ed il successo viene con il gol!

Kjaer has gotten three penalty-ripe interventions. Not his best game.

Great performance! The team has shown that they can do it, if they just want to.

Aside from the usual suspects, I was impressed by Guana, Carrozzieri, Amelia and Simplicio. But for me, the MOTM-award goes to Nocerino. Kid gave all he had for 94 minutes.

we did well today, but we did get alot of decisions from the ref, kjaer gave at least one stone wall penalty that wasnt given, and we did just seem to get the all the bounces and stuff. but i am happy, but i still look at our bench with massive disbelief.

I just noticed something. Lecce, Chievo & Torino coming up. 4/9 in the first round. I think getting less than a 9/9 would be shameful.

just watched game on replay. so proud of the team today. Miss Piggy was super lucky to not give away a peno or two however.

Nocerino is awesome in the midfield when he gets some support. Winning the ball and short passing is his specialty and I think he would thrive in the center of 4 man midfield. Simplicio excellent game as well. I thought we were in for a shocker from Guana when he gives the ball away under no pressure 30 seconds into the game but he got a little better.

9/9 from these games could be possible especially considering that we are at home to Lecce and Torino.

One thing we have to remember though, guys, is that this is why Palermo is so “bittersweet”. We have games against teams we should win, and perform like crap. Then we play teams on the road that we think we have no chance with and we win. This three game stretch though is crucial to where we want to end up.

Rosanero truly are the “colors of the sad and the sweet”. Our performances are proof of this. Yet, there is no other team I’d rather support.

    FORZA PALERMO!

I wasnt too keen when we went to a 4-5-1 though straight after the second goal, im not sure whether ballardini was not only protecting our 2 goal lead but also protecting his job, but the 3 center backs and wing backs defence just invited the pressure on us. was quite a nerve racking last 15mins.

“I think I have found the right trainer. In the past, I was wrong to change the Coach so often.”
im sorry but zamparini has been hitting the bong! you have a team and fanbase with excellent potential IF your team would play more consistently. a couple of signings and you could battle for the champions league as you play really good football. i have to say miccoli is your most important player but carrozzieri is equally as important hes amazing! an absolute monster at the back for you and he looks beautiful in pink. would love to be able to go see palermo vs real madrid at the barbera one day

I might have to agree with Gigi and say Crapuano is the most annoying. Only because he was even more of a b!tch when he went to Catania and turned on his teammates within two days. At least with Toni, it was several months…and he was a good player so he could somewhat back it up. Capuano’s got nothing. ZERO.
