Preview: Palermo - Worst Team In Milan

Palermo Boys, we are here. We beat your women and drink their beer, Palermo Boys, we are here.

Preview

This preview may look a lot like the one from last week. But there’s a simple explanation for that. We’re almost in the same situation as last week. 1/7, after a last minute equalizer against Bologna. The only difference is: we’re not playing some second rate, bound to be relegated gathering of has beens and not good enough for Serie A-players. We’re facing Milan. And trust me, this isn’t the Milan that went belly-up 2-1 at the Barbera last year. This is a powertrain heading for the Scudetto.

So, what can we do against Milan? Our biggest advantage is the fact that Bilan played UEFA Cup earlier this week, and that they didn’t really play wel. But still, we’re a team that’s barely able to combine 4 passes. We really need to pick up the pace if we don’t want to end up with the likes of Siena and Cagliari, having anonymous seasons after anonymous seasons. Another things is: we seem to perform pretty good against the big boys. Roma and Juve were perfect, and we showed great potential against Fiorentina and Inter. If the players are willing to fight for their team and coach, then tomorrow is the perfect moment.

Squad Status

Palermo

You’re not going to believe it. Except for Liverani, we’re going to be able to field our strongest team. Raggi is out, but he’s the only one. This means that the Bash Brothers are back in the centre of the defense, that Balzaretti can prove he can do better than against TOrino and that our midfield will have yet another chance to show their talent.

Probable Lineup:
Amelia; Cassani, Carrozzieri, Bovo, Balzaretti; Nocerino, Liverani, Bresciano, Simplicio; Cavani, Miccoli

Bilan

Head over to Gianfranco’sBilan-blog for this one. Kaka is suspended and Alessandro Nesta, Marco Borriello, Gianluca Zambrotta and Massimo Ambrosini are all injured. Good, good, good!

Probable Lineup:
Abbiati; Bonera, Maldini, Kaladze, Jankulovski; Gattuso, Pirlo, Flamini, Seedorf; Ronaldinho, Pato

Categorical Match up

Beauty vs. Beast: Push. Marco’s been doing well, while Abbiati seems to concede quite a lot lately.

Bash Brothers vs. Back-Up: Push. We have our best line-up, they don’t.

Allah Ahkbar & the Damage Control 3 vs. Strong, too strong: Milan. As long as Liverani is on the field, I can’t put my trust into this midfield.

End The Drought vs. Transvestite Twins: Milan. Miccoli couldn’t score in a brothel, while Dinho knows all about scoring. And hookers. And being the ugliest motherfucker on the pitch.

Final Analysis

Is it too much to hope for a win? I guess so, if you see the amount of luck we had in the last couple games. Still, this Milan is not unbeatable. They tied Torino, and barely escaped against Pompey. Added to that: they could be tired after playing Portsmouth during the week, and they miss half of their team. All we need is a Moris on Dinho’s knee, and we’ll be good.

    Dear Lippi,

Can Micolli get a freakin call up? Unless, of course, you enjoy having non-playmakers in the starting 11.

miccoli deserves to play for italia but i dont want him to he will just get injured. and amelia has said moris and bovo deserve call up! we have such a good core to our team with a couple of signings and some depth there is no reason why we cant at least challenge top four

I really think Moris opened up alot of people’s eyes with this past game. There is NO reason why he shouldn’t at least get a call up. I mean, is there not a more viable, natural replacement for Chiellini (aka Gonzo) then Moris?! I don’t think so! It’s a perfect fit!

moris for capitano. miccoli could be as well but there was a point when moris was barking orders at everyone and i would follow him to the gates of hell! i hope he stays with us for the rest of his career and he will become a legend! the difference between him and andrea “kitten” barzagli is so vast moris is a monster! i love it!!

I think our boy “Sneeze” needs to be loaned out to get some first team action somewhere. In his place, we need to bring in a veteran who can provide some backup to our front line.

The Sky Italia commentators were saying that Moris definitely deserves a call-up (and potentially a starting place) if he keeps up anything like the form he showed last night.

    Absolutely immense.

Moris and Miccoli should co-captain since Miccoli is always injured adn Moris often carded. But Moris was a solid wall even with Bovo playing relatively poorly next to him.

this next game is our true test we have beaten milan and the whole team played well but im more afraid of playing cagliari away. if we go there and play how we played against milan then we can destroy them but we wear roseanero for a reason supporting palermo can be the sweetest feeling in the world or the darkest abyss of calcio inferno!

Knowing Palermo our next game is going to be a 1-1 draw where we tie in the closing minutes or 1-0 lose in the closing minutes. No to be a joy kill but guys we played amazing last night but we still have the same flaws we had over the last couple of months. I would love to continue the form and hope we do but realistically we need more depth asap. Not every team is going to have a back four that cant clear the ball. And Calgiari has been on a role beating Fiorentina and Sampdoria and tying Napoli at home.

Anyone remember when Moris played a nice little game of palleggio around one of the Milan attackers? Other than “Mister, where I play?” and Miccoli’s rocketfuel shot, that was my favorite moment. Just utter humiliation at the hands of Mr. Caveman.

Yes, that was hilarious. He grabbed his face like he was about to slit his throat. I love how the Chievo player just stood there and took it.

Congratulations to the Palermo boys they truly deserved it, as my dad said they made Milan dance the samba last night with the way they played…lol don’t ask he’s off the boat and his translations don’t always make sense.

My uncle who was at the game last night said it was crazy amazing being there to watch both of his teams go head to head.

Btw if I can ask a question who is Moris?
