Palermo Boys, we are here. We beat your women and drink their beer, Palermo Boys, we are here.

Preview

Could there possibly be a worse time to play the reigning champions? I think not. Our team has a huge load op problems that aren’t possible to solve in the next two days. Zamparini is getting too much influence in picking the team, and his uncontrollable outbursts are causing mayhem in the dressing rooms. I can’t imagine anyone playing with a good, secure feeling when your president is ready to tear off your head as soon as you enter the dressing room.

After the humiliating defeat against that crappy team up north and the pretty sketchy performances in the weeks prior to that, we now have to face a team that can rape us in all holes all day, every day. The only ‘positive’ thing I can think of, is that this year’s Inter is in no way similar to last year’s. Mou has the press on his ass after every single game, they barely tied with Anorthosis and scraped a late winner against Udinese. Added to that is the Adriano-soap, and the utter shittiness that is Ricardo Quaresma. If there was ever a moment to tear apart FC Argentina, it is now. But we all know what happens at times when ‘now is the moment’ is the slogan.

Squad Status

Palermo

Nocerino out with a red card after an elbow that was never an elbow, and we can’t count (ahem) on Capuano, Bidone d’Oro and Butterfingers either. I can’t remember if Balzaretti was suspended or not. If not, this might be it. If he is, add Bovo in his place.

Probable Lineup:
Fontana; Cassani, Kjaer, Moris, Balzaretti; Migliaccio, Liverani, Bresciano, Simplicio; Miccoli, Cavani

Inter

Finally, a match against a team that has fans. Head over to the Inter Offside for a big (or not) preview for this match. All I can say is that Inter are having some problems as well in the health-department: no Figo, Adriano, Luis Jimenez, Nelson Rivas, Sulley Muntari or Cristian Chivu in this one.

Probable Lineup:
Julio Cesar; Maicon, Cordoba, Samuel, Maxwell; Vieira, Cambiasso, Zanetti; Obinna, Ibrahimovic, Balotelli

Categorical Match up

SuperJimmy vs. Giulio Cesare: Inter. I love Jimmy, but Cesar is without a doubt a fantastic keeper. And with our (at times) sketchy defense, Jimmy’ll have to work pretty hard.

Beauty And the Beast vs. It’s Possible: Push. We’ve been doing a lot better in defense lately, and it’s not as if Inter has the best backline in the world. Samuel has only played one game, and I’m not too sure about Maxwell’s talent either.

Bald and Brown vs. Argentina and the Snot: Inter. A back-up midfield with a Suicide Bomber versus a well oiled machine and a dude with an oily shirt. I don’t like it.

Latin Lovers vs. The Foreign Connection: Inter. Do you really want an explanation for this choice?

Final Analysis

I’m not hoping for anything. That’s the best in this situation. Hell, if you’re a fan of a team like Palermo, hopes are only going to get you hurt. Badly. That’s why I don’t want to be involved in transfer rumours three months before the mercato opens, and that is why I’m going to stop predicting scores. Someone up there doesn’t like me doing it, so I’m not going to push my luck. I also want to apologise for making this one a quickie, but I’ve had a pretty hectic week. Combine that with the disgusting feeling I’ve had ever since last Saturday, and I think you can catch my drift.

i think 3-4-1-2 would be a descent formation for us. Bovo Moris Kjaer - Balza miggy liverani nocerino - Simplicio - Miccoli cavani

Why dont we just sack ballardini after next game and sell everyone in january. Rehire guidolin .. he will put guana in cm and resign carraciolo and makniwa for our front line. We can beg torino to give us diana back at rb. I bet thats what zampa is thinking.

You know what sucks is we havent been bad in most games we lost. Besides opening day when udinese slaughtered us.

Away at Napoli we could have won, away at torino we could have won. Fiorentina was some bs ref decision … again last night the 2nd goal which gave us no chance was from a bs ref decision after littlbitch dived.

Having said that our team needs to realise the game goes on for 90 mins … it seems only Morris, Balzaretti, Migliaccio and cavani realise this. They run their asses off non stop until the end of every game they appear in. They work hard. Other players just die out … Miccoli cant just play for 60 mins then get bored and put nothing in (not including las night where he worked hard).

Bresciano and simplicio seem to have lost the spark that ballardini refound in them .. not as much fabio but definately marco … it isnt really fair though because he is our only winger and he does try to link up the play. Whenever we score it usually involves balzaretti and bresciano playing on the wing.

I dont know what to say really .. we clearly have a good quality of firts team squad, our backup is pretty awful.

Budan still needs to lose a bit of tubbyness, Lanzafame needs more time in the game to make ane impact. Please palermo stop with the needless bookings because they are costing us. Jimmy had a very poor game, no idea why amelia gets so much stick from certain ppl. We need him back, i love fontana but over a season despite his amazing saves he is prone to alot of stupid mistakes.

We could go on a run of 3 or 4 games winnign and our outlook on the season would be totally different but the incosistancy in our team is just sooooooooooo annoying, we look so promising then fuck everything up.

Depending on who we sign in january i wouldnt like to predict a final position. As we play at the moment and with this squad id say around 12/13th which is not progression Yet again. We need to atleast get in the intertoto .. a team like palermo needs european football.

That’s the only positive thing about our situation. The table is so close that if we could win 4-5 games in a row, we’d be back with the big boys. Just look at what Deportivo is doing in Spain.

Yeah, cuz’ it’s like Amelia hardly ever makes such stupid mistakes. Right :/
I wouldn’t fault Jimmy for the second goal. The barrier collapsed and ball was traveling 20m distance in 124km/h. If he got a touch on that ball poor old fella would have to announce retirement at the spot. In any case it certainly didn’t look nowhere near as bad as this, or this. I agree he could have done more on that first goal but Ibrabitch shouldn’t have been given that much access to the sight of our net in first place. Why wasn’t anybody marking him? It’s so frustrating how we give away so many goals thanks to rudimentary defensive errors and lack of attention. After all those seasons you’d think they should know better by now.

You know i dont understand what big mistakes ameliA has made for us that makes him such a target? .. bad positioning in the del piero goal but other then that he has performed fine. Shall we bring agliardi back from rimini? Jimmy couldnt get to a cross last night, was always to far off his line. Watch a replay of the ibra goal .. if fontana had been on his line he would have been able to reach the shot .. why was he so far off i dont know. The reason ibra got space is because as we have all mentioned liverani wont defend, when balzaretti is pushed forward liverani never drops back or chases anyone. Nocerino does, Migliaccio does .. even Cavani comes back from a striker position to defend but liveran just strolls along.

The wall was pretty pathetic for the free kick (but it never was a free kick) and well its jimmys job to organise the wall.

I wont lay into him because i like him but he had a poor game .. worst player was cassani which is unusual, he couldnt pass, make smart runs or get a final cross in last night.

I guess Kjaer will be back next game now Bovo is out .. I prefer a Kjaer Morris partnership anyway.

I guess we would all agree if its possible we really really really need to bring back jankovic in january .. so badly.

Maybe thats why liverani got taken out eh .. Even the manager realises he is a lazy fat shit. I know he didnt name names but its clear he is the only one who thinks he doesnt have to chase or put in a tackle.

I like the Kjaer-Moris thing as well, but the kid still doesn’t have the power that Bovo brings along. I think we should take things easy with him, and give him time to get used to Serie A. Same with Lanza, but he needs far more PT to get better…

With players im just of the opinion if they are good enough no matter what age .. play them. Yes they will need a rest but Kjaer has been one of our best players so far (says alot). Lanzafame played regularly last season, we cant expect him to do well if he gets random 10 minutes out of position.

Young players will make mistakes but our old ones are doing so anyway whats the difference. We just need to shake it up, the team is full of potential.. rar .. catania is winning again :(

In the 1o tempo, Jimmy did parry a couple of Maxwell-crosses away. Were you even watching the game? There was nothing he could do about the 2nd goal.
To each to their own. Fontana had some poor performances in the past and so did Amelia. From what I’ve seen so far, Amelia seems a mediocre to decent goalie, def not worth all the hype he’s been getting.

Funny, that’s the first thing came into my mind when a heard that news.

Bovo is more experienced defender and he does good job watching Moris’ back, who can be somewhat impetuous at times. Don’t quite get why he’s being so underrated here. Also let us remember that Kjaer is only 19yrs old new in town with very little first experience. Overexploitation would break the kid. Have patience and let him take his rite of passage step by step.

Well, it still counts. Udinese, Fiorentina and Napoli all lost. We’re still only five points away from Europe. Next week in San Siro, the first of a long row of wins…

Did Zamparini all of a sudden get hit with a heavy dose of sanity? He’s backing Ballardini up big time. He wants to “open up a cycle of at least 4-5 years” with Ballardini. Hey, I’d be surprised if he’d go one year.

im willing to give up this season as long as we get nilmar in january and then a creative centrocampista as well or next summer. liverani has to go what i would do for brienza back. and bring jankovic back as well and give him a chance he was going to be a mega player but colantuono and guidolin messed him up!

with kjaer and lanza, play them. There is a famous motto sir matt busby said about the busby babes back in the 60s which is still the top selling tshirt at the man utd club shop. It simply says “if they’re good enough, they’re old enough”

Ballardini should take this advice. If lanza is italys answer to ronaldo, ronaldo was playing first team for man utd at 18, PUT HIM IN NOW.

i think the people who say lanzafame is the answer to C.Ronaldo is extremely far stretched. I’d’ like to see him given some real time against some lesser Serie A teams pronto, but really he has not yet earned a starting shirt yet or even large amounts of play time, he has it all to prove still.

If Kjaer has same talent level of Maldini, Nesta, or Sergio Ramos I’d give him the starting spot right now. But be serious, a Maldini he’s not. IMO he’s still raw in certain areas and has a long way ahead of him. If we overuse him he’ll soon gonna crack under pressure. We don’t want CavaniII, do we?
