Preview: Palermo – Genoa

Stadio La Favorità, Palermo

Overview

Second “big and important” game in 8 days. The Roma-game was all about not ending up where Milan and Cagliari are right now, and we did what needed to be done. The Genoa-game is all about keeping the momentum floating and trying to get a place among the top 5 from the start of the season. Beating a direct competitor for UEFA-football along the way could provide extra sweetness. As if those two reasons weren’t good enough, there’s also the battle of two nutty presidents. Not that Preziosi, or the Toy Baron if you like that more, is as crazy as Zampa, but he ain’t sane either. And then there’s even more. Foschi. I’m still pissed he signed for the Grifoni, even if he’s gone by now.

But let’s not call eachother Sandy, we all know this game is as tough as trying to crap a smooth one after a night of binge drinking. Ricci, I know you know what I mean. Genoa were a tough team last year (remember that 3-3 thriller at the Marassi?), and now they seem to be even tougher. Even without Marco ‘my GF loves to suck the cock’ Borriello up front. Ballardini will have to work the magic again. I can imagine him standing in the dressing room before the game, while the players are lining up to rub his bald head for good luck.

Squad Status

Palermo

Miccoli seems to have recovered from his Miccoli-problems, and should be ready to wreck havoc on the Genoa-defense. As for our defense, Morris did well so I see him starting again. We are still missing Budan and Kjaer, but no worries. And no signs of Guana. I love Ballardini.

Probable Lineup:
Amelia; Cassani, Carrozzieri, Bovo, Balzaretti; Migliaccio, Liverani, Nocerino, Simplicio, Cavani, Miccoli

Genoa

Why don’t you guys head over to the brand newGenoa-blog for that?

Probable Lineup:
Rubinho; Biava, Ferrari, Criscito; Mesto, Milanetto, Juric, Modesto; Sculli, Milito, Gasbarroni

Categorical Matchup

Caesar vs. He Be Good :P ush. Amelia is starting to find his talents back, but Rubinho is playing like a motherfucker as well. I don’t see any of them going wrong.

Badass Boys vs. Young Talents: Push. We looked pretty decent against Roma, but Genoa have the terrible two Criscito and Ferrari. That’s a dream defense, guys. But Carroz and Bovo will eat the Genoa-attack alive, I hope.

Keep the Turd on the Bench! vs. Mediocrity: Palermo. Nocerino is evolving into the player we all wanted him to evolve into, and with Simplicio and Bresciano looking better than ever, there’s no way Genoa can outplay us in midfield.

Eyebrow Attack vs. Milito: Push. Scared is not the word, but I’m still not feeling all that confident about our attacking strenght. i’m just hoping that bagging three against Roma wasn’t a once in a season-event. Milito might be one of the most dangerous players in all of Serie A, so we better keep him locked.

Final Analysis

It’s gonna be tight. It’s gonna be as tight as me trying to wear a small-sized shirt. If we score first and then try to play our best catenaccio, we can send the Grifoni back to Genova empty handed. But letting Milito fire at will (as did our defense in the 3-3) is like having a death wish.

Let’s see if Moris the man-eater can eat up Hamsik and Denis too next game.

Joking aside, game at San Paolo will be extremely tough, plus Napoli almost never loses in their homeground. I’d be satisfied with a point.

teams are there to be beaten with the right game we could win they dont have lavezzi or santacroce! our new defender partnership is so good compare to last years moris is a monster and bovo has class after everyone worrying before season started! plus amelia, nocerino a new simplicio, bresciano, miccoli and hoping cavani and one of my favourites balzaretti zampa has done us proud we have got an excellent squad. if miccoli stayed fit for a full season we could qualify for champions league when he is on top form he is as good as mutu

Foschi had an absolute steal with getting Balzaretti last year. The guy is just pure class. His name should be worth mentioning for the Azzurri.

Let’s all remember that Cavani is still only 21 years old. He’s showing us that he’s very young and raw, but if he is able to refine his skills, he will become very, very good. Uruguay’s NT coach was heaping high praise on him earlier today.

I loved Balzaretti. Not only was he a competent left-back born and raised in Torino, he joined us from Toro merda. I don’t know how Juventus or Fiorentina let him go, he’s a solid defender.

balza is exactly what juve need at left back but they still play molinaro?! that is so stupid it makes me think ranieri is not up to the task some of his subs are not very clever. if you had ballardini in charge of juve you would win scudetto and champions league!!!! im hopin cavani just finds that confidence and composure and then he will explode! with strikers confidence is more important than skill

damn Miccoli back for Napoli? My hopes just doubled with visions of Miccoli coming off the bench and scoring a wonderful free kick goal.

I compare Cavani to Perrotta in the right spot all the time just cant finish. Eventually he will learn how to kick the ball on target and away from the keeper. Cavani schould realistically have have about 6 goals already this season.

Any one going to be around tomorrow for the game?

Giro I’ll be around. I’m leaving school early to come home and try to stream the game. I don’t know how good my luck is gonna be cuz I don’t think Napoli shows home games on TV anywhere except for in Italy on SKY.

Good news Maggio is also out in addition to Lavezzi and Santacroce.

Yeah im taking a long break from work I hope there is a stream. Personally this is the most exciting game of the day should be on RAI.

I read Maggio is in. CH4 is the only place that’s reporting Maggio and Hamsik are out, all the Italian sources are claiming they’re 100% fit. Ch4 is usually pretty off with their starting lineups too, I’m more likely to trust this http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/prob_form/04_giornata.shtml

Yo giro basically it’s just a website that will post links to the games. You have to download a few programs to be able to stream the games though. If you have a MAC you are shit out of luck, most of the programs won’t work. So just google search these few programs and download them…

    TV ANTS
    UUSEE
    Sopcast

Those are the only ones that really work for me. There is also a RAI streamer, I forgot the name of it though. So download those few and when you click on a link in myp2p.eu the program will pop up and the game will begin streaming after a few minutes.

yeah giro check it out before the game. Go to the main site, click on sports/football and the game schedules pop up. Search for the game you want and then a list will drop down of streams. There are usually a ton of streams and maybe 25% to 10% will work if your lucky, so don’t give up right away. In addition to the ones that Ricci mentioned, there have recently been a ton of Mediaplayer ones that have been working awesome for me so far this year. In fact they have been the only ones that have worked so far for me.

Those MyP2P-streams suck more than the Chievo-team combined. Too bad bet365 is only picking the big boys for their broadcasts.

230 I think. Gonna have to cut out like half an hour early for me to make it home in time. Mid week games are the best. It’s like an extra birthday present you just found in your closet.

Yeah Steven, those streams are pretty terrible. Like 10% of them work. But when you find a good one it feels like that time you smoked weed in the high school bathroom and then went to the cafeteria and ate 10 ice creams. erm…maybe that was just me.
