Preview: Napoli - Palermo
By: Steven | March 28th, 2008
Sunday March 30th, 2008 20.30
Stadio San Paolo, Napoli
Squad Status
Palermo
*Drumroll* The biggest chance in the team is the coach. All hail Colantuono, at least until sunday evening 20.29. The Suit has to start his second spell in Palermo with a B-squad: Rinaudo and Biava are suspended (the first, still being called Fabrizio Biava on Channel 4’s site, isn’t a problem, the second one is) and Miccoli and Cavani probably out injured. Shitpants (long time no see) is also still injured, which is a very good thing. Bosko and Brescio have been playing international games, so they might be tired.
So…what to do? Cassani and Balza take the defensive wings, and Amauri plays lone ranger backed up by, I don’t know, the Serbian Stallion and Bikerman? Guana’s back as well, hope he’ll be benched, not counting on it.
Fontana; Cassani, Zaccardo, Barzagli, Balzaretti; Guana, Migliaccio, Simplicio; Jankovic, Caserta; Amauri
Napoli
Luckily, Edy Reja also has staff-problems. No Cupi, no Zalayeta, no Iezzo, no Gargano and no Mannini. Too bad they still have Lavezzi and L’Arciere. For more info, head over to Fortunato and Joe.
Probable Line-Up:
Gianello; Santacroce, Cannavaro, Domizzi; Garics, Blasi, Pazienza, Hamsik, Savini; Sosa, Lavezzi
Categorical Matchup
Jimmy vs. Back-up: Jimmy, always Jimmy. Gianell who? Gianello what?
The Backs versus Mini-Canna and The Boys: Napoli. 5 goals against in two games. Nuff’ said?
Still that Goddamn Guana versus Young Guns: Napoli. Garics, Blasi en Hamsik scare the shit outta me.
Back-Up Boys versus Deadly Duo: Push. Lavezzi is like a god, but Amauri bagged two as well last week.
Final Analysis
I’m not going to comment a lot, I’ll just let you know that we lost 3 games in a row and haven’t won in five. Napoli’s on a roll.
Last 5 years
10/11/2007 Palermo Napoli 2-1 Serie A
10/04/2004 Napoli Palermo 1-1 Serie B
16/11/2003 Palermo Napoli 4-0 Serie B
Prediction
2-2. Lavezzi doppietta, Amauri, Bosko
MOTM
Lavezzi.

Thanks dude. It’s a hard job with games like this, but the 100+ comments make me go on.

Serie B Guana and Capuano will feel right at home. I don’t see how we can be relegated but our schedule coming in isn’t the easiest

Hellow B, here we come

The problem with american sports is there is no such thing as relegation. You come in last place, no big deal. People here don’t understand what a losing streak really is when not just your star pitcher gets sent to AAA, but your whole team, your heart gets the boot to the lower leagues. I don’t know what to do with myself right now. This is unfucking real.
Our wings were made of wax all along.

i dont see relegation either but some tuff times deff if we could beat juve at home it would be nice but supposedly we play a good game and the way we lost today wasnt a good way to lose in the last second of the game

It was really due to defensive error. Jimmy is short so he’s not that good when coming out.

Palermo is the worst mistress ever. A weekly sunday boner, always ending in your jizz meeting the toilet paper.

All I can think about is that promotion video with Toni, and Barzagli, and I want to cry. Fucking glory days, text book style.

Anthony our wings really were wax. Zampa flew too close to the sun when he cut Corini loose and we haven’t recovered since. I feel awful right now and I pray that we get 1 more win. These teams trailing us have tons of heart, and Reggina has Ciccio Brienza, the one that got away.

Guys, whatever you do, don’t put on a Marco Masini CD. I haven’t been this close to crying in years.

I think we need to steal Lazios’ picture of Charlie Brown. Thats us all over.

Brienza and Corini should’ve never been let go, even if it was only based on how much they’ve given to the club. And they’ve been proving they can both still play in A.

Do these guys practise on crosses or not? When you’re taking corners at least make them head toward innerside of the box, u morons.

Ricci, thats the thing, the teams below us have been facing this the whole season. Never in a million years would I think we’d be put in this position, and our team’s moral, I’m sure isn’t where theirs are. This is when our best jump ship, and I can’t blame them.

Thanks for another evening people, I’m gonna get some Limoncello (a Napolitan drink, the irony) and get hammered.

Yeah agree with you Anthony. These teams at the bottom are like relegation professionals. They’re like a bunch of sharks swimming in the water and right now they’ve spotted an injured whale and they smell blood

Is it wrong to say I’d really, really like to sodomize giada de laurentiis right now; with anger?

Palermo ain’t no injured whale. Palermo is like one of those cute Canadian seals, just enjoying some sun, not knowing there’s three guys on it’s tail with clubs.

There is no chance Palermo will get relegated. Even Guidolin couldn’t conspire to do that to your boys. Juve are pretty Jeckyl and Hyde outfit this year so I wouldn’t put getting a result from them as out of the question. Parma, Livorno and Empoli are my bets to go down.
Hang tight boys…restock in the summer. I do agree with the sentiments about losing Corini, I think it’s had ripple effects you couldn’t possibly imagine.
