Saturday April 12th, 2008 18.00
Stadio Renzo Barbera, Palermo

Squad Status

Palermo

Colantuono is most likely to field his 4-2-3-1 again. Zacc, Balzaretti, Leandro and Barzagli in the back. Headbutt and Migliaccio in front of them, Janko, Caserta and the returning Miccoli in support of Amauri. No Cassani, who’s suspended for celebrating his screaming winner last week, and no Simplicio due to a minor injury.

Probable Line-up
Fontana; Zaccardo, Rinaudo, Barzagli, Balzaretti; Guana, Migliaccio; Jankovic, Miccoli, Caserta; Amauri

Catania

Nothing special about them. They’re a team filled with inbreeding sewer workers. Mascara and Spinesi are dangerous up front and Vargas is ours next year.

Probable Line-Up
:
Polito; Sardo, Terlizzi, Stovini, Sabato; Izco, Gia.Tedesco, Edusei, Vargas; Mascara, Spinesi

Categorical Matchup

Woot-Woot Jimmy vs. Anonymous: Palermo. Have you been watching this guy lately???

They Really Don’t Suck That Much versus Second Hand Garbage: Palermo. The defense finally’s getting its facts straight.

Still that Goddamn Guana versus Vargas and the Boys: Push. Miccoli returns, Caserta had a great game, but that bald moron is still running around. Vargas can hurt us bad.

Please stay! versus The Odd Couple: Palermo. He might be playing for a transfer, but Amauri proved his qualities again last week. Spinesi ain’t last year’s Spinesi, and Mascara is something girls put on their lashes.

Final Analysis

This one is ours. Last year we beat the Hilbillies twice, but this year we lost the first game 3-1. I wouldn’t be able coping with another loss. And let’s not forget the Catania-laughter this would bring us. We’re fighting for the Intertoto-ticket, Catania can still go down. Sure hope we can make a step towards our goal, and in the mean time give the Elefantini that final blow.

Last 5 years in Serie A

02/12/2007 Catania Palermo 3-1 Serie A
02/02/2007 Catania Palermo 1-2 Serie A
20/09/2006 Palermo Catania 5-3 Serie A

Prediction

3-1. Amauri, Miccoli, Vargas, Amauri.

MOTM

Amauri.

I think Colantuono is gonna bring on Guana b/c he thinks we’re vulnerable on the counter. If Guana comes on we will lose this game, that is a fact.

cavani has a lot of good attributes but he is fucking stupid all he wants to do is run and shoot someone tell him he is on a team.

Miccoli easily man of the match, we play so much better with him on the field. i like his pistol celebration and he ran around the catania defenders like they were cones, what a player.

If Miccoli can keep himself healthy next season and we can get some good young talent, I see us doing very well with Andrea “Poison” Barzagli gone

Cavani is useless out of the 18 yard box, unless he’s trying Van Basten volleys

He just can’t seem to keep the ball to his feet even if his very life depended on it. Even Guana has better control of the ball than he does. Every single time when Catania defender charged him, he lost possession. Imagine if he did that inside our half.

yeah exactly. He just doesn’t possess the skill to shield the ball, he lets players go right through him. For some reason he was playing on the left side of midfield in a 4-4-2, I would have switched him with Miccoli. Either way it worked out ok.

Ok, I waited to watch the replay on FoxSoccer…I wait all day and have the disipline not to look up the score.. During the 70th minute, they flash the final score at the bottom of the screen.. I was fuckin pissed, but at least we won…Mighty Mouse to the rescue!!

that sucks KJ…that’s happened to me before when I avoid a game all day and then someone tells me or I see a score
online or something. I caught the flu that everyone else seems to be getting and It’s just downright awful, but it allowed me to watch the game again.

    Agliardi - 6

Zacco - 6.5, did well marking Vargas. Some good crosses too.

Rinaudo - 6.5 leader at the back, I don’t think we can really fault him for any of those half chances Catania had.

Barzagli - 6 very bad mispass very close to goal 1st half, was solid otherwise.

Balzaretti - 7 defended well but also linked up well with the attackers and midfielders. opposing teams constantly have to worry about his attacking threat

Tedesco - 7 did well to spread the ball across the field, made a key block on Spinesi and some good ball winning tackles in midfield. just doesn’t have 90 minutes.

Migliaccio - 7.5 where would we be without this guy?

Jankovic - 7.5 was constantly dangerous, dribbled defenders easily and put in great crosses. underrated defensive abilities as well.

Caserta - 7 very, very good at shielding the ball so opponents have no choice but to foul him. very solid ball distribution in the 2nd half from center midfield.

Bresciano - 5.5 get the guy to Manchester already. He works hard, give him that much. Pressuring constantly but he seems to have lost all skill he previously had.

Amauri - 6 not his best game. Couldn’t really do much with the useless Bresciano behind him. Once Miccoli came on he improved a lot.
    Subs
Miccoli - 8.5 awesome game. his impact was noticed immediately, passed and linked up well with everyone on the field. the goal and celebration were both awesome.

Cavani - 4 Cavani is useless as a wide player unless we are playing on the counter attack where we can use his pace. Needs to learn how to pass the ball off and not always look to score wonder goals. Never gonna score from 22 yards out with a wall of defenders in front of you.

    Guana - bald

    “Guana - bald”

    Hilarious : )

I just saw the replay, we were lucky Spinesi wasn’t really clean in his shots…

Have I said that I just love Miccoli before?
