Categorical Matchup
Goalie- Roma - Whether Doni or Curci, Roma has the distinct
advantage over the 40 year old Fontana. Marco
Amelia, what’s up, man?
Defense- Push- The only question mark for Roma, although
Cicinho will play. Palermo has relatively the same
backline as last year including Azzurri members,
Zaccardo and Barzagli.
Midfield- Roma- The signature of the Roma system has a clear
advantage over Palermo.
Forwards- Palermo- Although Franceso Totti is one of the top strikers,
the combination of Amauri and Miccoli supercedes
even him and may be the best attack in all of
Serie A.
Final Analysis
Although it seems like a mismatch on paper, the game will be very competitive and entertaining. Palermo, behind the raucous home crowd, will be out to prove that they can compete with the larger clubs while Roma wants to establish themself as true Scudetto contenders. The game plan for Palermo will be to try to contain the Roma midfielding attack while counterattacking when given the opportunity. The Roma game plan will be to prevent Amauri and Miccoli from reeking havoc and ruthlessly attacking the Rosanero back line.
Prediction
2-2, Roma maintains possession and sustains pressure throughout the match while finishing two goals. Yet, the resiliency of the Palermo counterattack allows them to equalize late in the game and the result ends in a draw.

Chris, the only reason I picked Palermo’s forwards is because of the depth. Amauri+Miccoli+Cavani= Awesome. Totti may be the best, but if he is injured or sent off, who do you have left? Also, I hope Miccoli proves you wrong this year. I have watched him the past few years in Champions League matches and been impressed. In this case, I have to go with quantity over quality. Good luck tommorrow!

Miccoli’s having a game and a half, great stuff from Palermo despite the 0-2 scoreline. It could easily be a different story, but Palermo’s had the worst fkn luck in front of the net and Fontana’s playing the game of his life.
Best game of the week by far.

Great match…Palermo had stretches of really good play and deserved to at least put up a goal. I just love the backdrop of the Renzo Barbera. What a sight to see.
