Old Acquaintences: Palermo – Siena

Devis Mangia

Sunday, October 2, 2011
Stadio Renzo Barbera, Palermo, Sicilia

It’s a Varese reunion as Sean Sogliano (ex-Varese DS) and Devis Mangia (ex-Varese Primavera coach) meet up with Giuseppe Sannino (ex-Varese head coach). Unfortunately, there was no time for a full preview but it will be nice to see other familiar faces like Franco Brienza and Emanuele Calaiò – one who played for Palermo and adopted the city as a result and the other who was born in Palermo but never got to play in the colors.

With the match occurring at the Barbera, everyone will expect a win, but it’ll be tough as Siena are no pushover.

Probable Lineup

Tzorvas
Pisano – Silvestre – Migliaccio – Balzaretti
Bertolo – Barreto – Della Rocca – Ilicic
Abel – Miccoli

Bench: Benussi; Mantovani, Cetto; Acquah, Bacinovic, Zahavi; Pinilla

SIAMO TERRONI E CE NE VANTIAMOOOOO!!!!

Hopefully this game will be more entertaining than the last. It will be nice to see Brienza again… miss that guy.
Melbourne time clicked onto daylight savings which makes Serie A games even later now, i.e. midnight start. Another bleary eyed Monday coming up!
    FORZA PALERMO!!!

This has disaster written all over it. Miccoli injured – Balza with a red card and Mantovani on the back line… hold on boys.

Disaster averted – whew. Down to 10 men and the defence looked solid. Hernandez must have covered 10-12 kilometers.

Sheesh I’m glad that’s over!! This new better balanced Palermo is solid. That was a good test. We suffered well. With a sharper attack we would have finished them off sooner. A good fight. Buona notte ragazzi!

Alright everyone, sorry not posted Ive been on holiday to menorca. downloaded and watched the inter game and all the highlights of the others yesterday. Inter game was ridic! Im loving this 4-4-2 not many teams are playing such a pushed up high game and using wingers too. Gotta say im eating my hat with all the new signings (even mantovani because he looks really good on the bench) and even the coach. I dont expect this sorta form will continue but its some bloody good football. LOVING bertolo getting some game time too. Since when did Ilicic become such a petulant child though?

Next year names like Tzorvas, Silvestre or Ilicic will be hot properties in transfer market.
Now I feel relieved seeing Della Rocca fill Nocerino’s shoes very well while Antonio himself is facing a hard time at Milan. Poor Antonio …

Miggy only on €600k a year. If anyone is a transfer target it will be him.
