Sorry people but you have a completely distorted and unreal vision of what is the situation of Palermo Calcio. I ain’t racist or anything stupid like that but that’s why all of you are foreigners, I’ve never read such bullshit at one time! One example for all: if you say fuck to Zamparini you are just following some commonplaces wich doesn’t fit what you’re talking about. And again some idiot wrote he would be happier when Tedesco retires…try to say that to a TRUE palermitano and football fan, he’s our TRUE captain, he’s OUR flag! He’s surely not a youngster but he gives 100% everytime he puts his feets on the pitch. Sorry mates but nearly ALL of you doesn’t know nothing…

luca,
we dont hate tedesco. he puts in great effort, but he’s too old and untalented to be our “flag bearer”
and how can u defend zampa’s recent behavior?

Luca,
Remember a guy named Eugenio Corini that got forced out of the club about 3 years ago. At the time (and still) Il Genio could run and pass circles around Tedesco. Il Genio was our captain and our regista, there was no way he should have left. But he was forced out and shit players stayed like Guana stayed, meanwhile Tedesco renewed his contract. Tedesco was like 34 at the time, hadn’t even played the majority of his career at Palermo but since he was Palermitano Zampa handed him a contract while throwing Genio out the door. This past year Ballardini comes out and says he wants to aim for Europa league. Zampa then comes out and says “Europa League is shit, we won’t get it anyway.” He then goes on to say “Ballardini isn’t ready for a big club” and blames him for every loss.
Meanwhile Zampa fails to realize we are consistently putting teenagers with no Serie A experience on our bench b/c our squad is so thin. No other team does that, not even Chievo or the recently relegated Torino! There is no such thing as an impact sub at Palermo b/c the subs make no impact. If we had a better bench, we avoid our poor results in the last 3 games of the season and push for Europe. It’s that simple Luca. Zamaparini is an assclown. Guy has a ton of money, but only buys unknown strikers and holding midfielders so he can make profit off them. He refuses to shore up the left and 3/4 midfield positions which have been problems for 3 years now! It took Ballardini to play Simplicio in the 3/4 position which was a masterstroke, or else this season was down the toilet. Yet he criticizes and gives no thought to what Ballardini says the squad needs.
I take that foreigner comment very seriously. I have family and many friends in Palermo who all feel the same way about Zamparini. Refuses to open his wallet or even address the core problems with the team, and wants credit for everything and blames everybody for something. Nobody takes this guy seriously, except you apparently.

thx mate
for some emphasis check this out. Palermo, Zamparini: “Il progetto Palermo sono io”
What other owner comes out and says that? It is true that he has helped us with his money but he’s not a “special owner”. Doria, Udine, Lazio, Roma (300mil in debt), Napoli etc. don’t have Zamparini but they are doing just fine! Yes he has money, yes money helps a team, but guys with money are a dime a dozen in football, if it wasn’t you, it’d be someone else with money. You are nobody special you clown. The ego on this guy is incredible.

there are not many football presidents that dont get a bashing every now and then. joan laporta of barcelona had a vote of no confidence against him last summer, was nearly voted out and barca obviously went onto win the treble by playing the best football ever seen. hes a quality president
zamparini on the other hand is just plain mental. he acts like a tyrant. yes he took you to serie a and europe but the way he behaves with players and managers is so unprofessional its ludicrous. the way he runs to the press is disgusting as well, but the worst is when he singles out individuals for critiscism

Giro, if there is someone who doesn’t make sense is the 90% of the people writing here. As i said before, I’ve never read this amount of commonplaces and bullshit at one time! If you ever come to Palermo, and put your ass on a seat of the Barbera, you’ll never hear comments like that…well not in these occasions at least. People here just go on criticizing Zamparini’s work when they even don’t know the society budget and how well this one has been administrated.
to ndcolin: Guess you’ve never been to the Barbera…does the chant “GIOVANNI TEDESCO EEH OOOH!” reminds you something? And for Zamparini…wich behavior?? I think you’re talking about the wrong person…again very few people are by Ballardini’s side…and for good reasons.
to Ricci: Some of your statements make sense, but again you ain’t got no idea of how much commonplaces you’ve pulled out. Don’t trust everything journalist or italian parents say such as the Ballardini’s thing, you’re completely out of way: We well know Zamparini’s behaviour, but two or three critics when things went wrong (wich every president on the plantet does) doesn’t justifies, for example, the fact that he pretends to be sacked because he bought a 700.000€ land! He even said he’s touchy and can’t stand even A critic. Zamparini was noticeably sad and embittered, go to see his interview on the palermo calcio website.
Zamparini’s management is the good one for a society that 10 years ago had players like Puccinelli (no offense to him) and played in serie C1, we had the serie A in 2 years and in 5 years we ranked one time 6th, two times 5th, last year 11th (see Colantuono etc.) and now 8th with a completely refounded team. Pretty extraordinary for a small club, isn’t it? Few other small teams achieved such results (like Foggia in the 90’s and Chievo). EVERYONE in Palermo is satisfied for what we achieved, especially this year. A team like our beloved Palermo could have hardly done better, that’s why blind criticism is stupid.

No, Giro, I think you’re just mad that a REAL palermitano came on here and owned your ass.
I don’t agree with everything he says, but one thing he says that is true, (assuming we believe where he says he’s from), is that our view of the team is a very specific one; and probably not the one people from the city hold. I don’t see how you can disagree with that.

Luca, you say that Palermo is a small club. You put Palermo in the same category as Foggia and Chievo. This I do not accept.
Palermo is a big city with a lot more funds and potential to grow. It has vast potential worldwide from the immigrants of sicilia especially in places such as the US and even here in Australia.
Also, Zamparini has on many occasions said Palermo was on the same level as Fiorentina. So why are we sitting in 8th position and they play CL (again)?
In the 38 weeks of the Serie A season, how many times did the tifosi chant “GIOVANNI TEDESCO EEH OOOH!”? (17 appearances totalling 288 minutes = 3 games) I totally understand the affection the palermitani have for him. But as hard as he tries, and for all the good that he does, he is not a Champions League player.
Also, Luca, with respect, I think it is wrong of you to dismiss the arguments on this blog as bullshit. It is good to consider a foreign/outsiders view. Perhaps you are too close to the rosanero to see clearly the problems that exist. Sometimes, it is good to take a step back to get a clearer view.

Walter Zenga – nuovo allenatore.
I must say I’m not surprised by this. However, I am somewhat disappointed.
The choice could have been worse … but could have been better too.

Luca, I take offence to your comments, I really do. Yes, maybe you are a Palermitano, and yes, you may have seen more games than us (still, true fans don’t call it ‘the barbera’) but that doesn’t mean you have to come here and act like a little ass. Everyone here is sticking to the team, even if we’re 500, 2000 or 15.000 kilometres away from Palermo. Living in Sicilia doesn’t make you a better fan than us.
Sure, Zamparini has done a lot for the team. Is there anyone here that doesn’t acknowledge that? No. But the way things are going right now, isn’t the right way. You take Chievo and Foggia as an example. Where are they now? Huh? And trust me, there is nobody complaining about what the team achieved this year. We fought a team with a budget 10 times as high as ours for the entire season, we beat almost all the big teams at least once, and we did great with a team made up out of unproven youngsters and B-list stars.
The thing we’re all complaining about, is the way this team is run. I think I and some other people here know more about the team, the city and the island than you think. it’s not because this is an American website, that we’re all Americans. Where do you expect us to end up in the next few years with players like Andrea Raggi, Mirko Savini and Davide Succi and with a president who fires coaches as if it were interns? I wonder in what way you are connected to the club that you know more about the internal kitchen than the other people that have been following this team since Serie C. And yes, that does include me. I have seen guys like Bombardini, Sicignano and a very young Brienza play with the Alitalia and Telepiù shirts…
And talking about Giovanni Tedesco, I couldn’t agree more with Ricci. Genio and Brienza were there from the start. What happened to them? Brienza got fucked off to Serie A’s shittiest team in years for no reason, and two years later we’re still looking for a replacement for his position. yes, Liverani did well in the second part of the season, but he is not and will never be Il Genio. I guess you will remember the game against Schalke in Gelsenkirchen, where Genio handballed the ball out of the goal, receiving a (deserved) red card afterwards. Well, I was sitting right above the tunnel in that game, and he was crying like a little girl. When he gave his press conference, he became the first man ever to make me cry. I’m a fucking twenty-something guy, 2 metres high, and he made me cry. That, my friend, is team pride. That is the love for la maglia. Not some guy who returns to his home town after years, just to see out the remainder of his playing career in a nice, warm climate in a town that won’t forget he was born there. A legendary status, my friend, is earned. You don’t just get it for returning to your hometown club when nobody else wants you.
You might think we’re stupid and ignorant, but we are well aware of the fact that there still are a lot of people behind Zamparini. It’s in everyone’s right to have an oppinion. We appreciate that you stick with Zamparini, maybe you should appreciate our opinion as well. If not, don’t even bother coming back.

Luca, I have been there before, and just because some tifosi love him because he’s a “hometown boy” does not make him our “flag bearer.” As many others have said before, Corini was a “flag bearer”…while I admire Tedesco’s heart and his hometown status, he simply lacks the talent to be the face of the team
and by zampa’s behavior, i mean that he gives ballardini a team where DAVIDE SUCCI is the #1 forward coming of the bench, ROBERTO GUANA is the #1 midfielder, and MIRKO SAVINI is the #1 defender, watches Ballardini nearly take that team to Europe, then decides he would rather have a coach who won a watered-down Coppa Italia and publicly criticizes Balardini. How is that defensible?
