Impressive Pre-Test

As Martha briefly noted in the Italy blog, Palermo defeated Real Zaragoza 4-2 in their final tune-up before Serie A returns next weekend. A stunning win, meaningless or not, in which Rosanero hit-man Amauri struck gold for 3 goals. (Wow, at 70% healthy, this guy will dominate again at full strength.) Miccoli scored the other lone goal. Palermo showed resiliency as they trailed twice in the game before finally pulling away in the end. It also helped that Zaragoza was reduced to 9 men due to red cards by the final whistle. It was a shuffled lineup for Colantuono as there were injuries and national team duties that interfered with an ideal squad. Young-gun Cavani, Biava, Matteini, and Migliaccio all watched with fitness problems as Jankovic and Matusiak were away with their national teams. Nevertheless, the rockin’ Renzo Barbera of 23,000 strong was very satisfied with the result. Here was the full line up.
Palermo (4-3-2-1)
Fontana
Zaccardo
Rinaudo (Dellafiore 78)
Barzagli
Pisano (Capuano 61)
Guana
Simplicio
Tedesco (Diana 61)
Brienza (Amauri 45)
Bresciano (Velardio 77)
Miccoli (Carbanaro 85)
By the way, I’m guessing the jerseys in the picture will be the 07/08 home edition. I’m not sure, but if you have any info, let me know.

Get Bresciano out of Palermo. You know it would be hilarious if he transferred to West Ham. I’m sure he can find a challenge suited to his elevated persona when West Ham get embroiled in a relegation fight. Idiot.
