I’m going to Target, and I’m buying…
By: Steven | October 25th, 2007Yes, it has been a very slow newsweek. Days have been passing by slower than those three old fatties that live down my street, so I’ve been thinking about some possible additions to our beloved Palermo-team during the January transfer window.
First of all, let’s start of with the people who are probably leaving or that I’d like to see going away:
Marco Bresciano
Let’s face it: he’s no longer Colantuono’s best friend, even though they look like brothers. He wants to go, City wants to pay a lot of money…if he’s unhappy, he’s better off somewhere else. Still, I’d miss him…
Federico Agliardi
I admit: I used to be a fan of his. But since he started stinkin’ away (somewhere around that terrible match against Samp last year), we’re better off without him. If the management still has plans with the kid, get him out or a loan for half a year because right now, he’s just cashing his cheques and sipping graniti.
Giuseppe Biava
He started of nicely last year, and he’s one of the guys who’s been around for a while, but wtf has happened this year? He’s not playing in a confident way, and that red card was totally unnecessary. Get out!
So, we’ll be needing: a keeper, an attacking midfielder, a ‘normal’ midfielder (as you guys all hate Caserta), two defenders (i’m not putting my money where Capuano is) and at least one extra striker. Hmmmm, who shall we get then?
Keeper
For me, there’s only two possibilities: Zampa, either open up your chequebook for Amelia, or get De Sanctis out of Sevilla. Why? Amelia’s tired of Spinelli/the Livorno-defense looking like Swiss cheese and wants out. Just cough up the transfer fee, and we’re good to go. De Sanctis might be a professional asshole, he’s still a great goalie. Oh yeah, and he’s tired of the Sevilla-bench.
If we want another young back-up goalie, I’m rooting for Rimini’s Andrea Consigli.
Defenders
Seriuosly, i have no idea. Maybe we could get Cagliari’s Michele Canini, but we failed in that last year as well. Personally, i’d love to see Alessandro Lucarelli return to the club, but I guess Genoa won’t be happy to let him go. Guys, any ideas?
Midfield
I’m thinking Giandomenico Mesto. He’ll be expensive, but we can put him in both defense and midfield. And then there’s Andrea Dossena or Parma’s Andrea Pisanu. Again: suggestions please!
Attack
Two names come to mind, too bad they’re both Roman AND too expensive. I’m talking about Vucinic and Cerci. Vucinic is young, explosive and I’ve loved him since the day he started at Lecce, and I do believe Palermo is a team where his skills will reach new peaks. Cerci, on the other hand, is even younger. The kid scored 5 in 10 Pisa-games, but is still owned by Roma. The Giallorossi are said to want him back in january, but maybe we can squeeze in?
I’ve been thinking about something…how ’bout we let those dirty Romans (sorry Chris) have Amauri, and give us Cerci and Vucinic in return? Don’t get me wrong, I looooooooooove Amauri, but if Roma want him that bad, why not make use of it?
But we have to be reasonable here…i’m also willing to go for Nicola Amoruso and Rolando Bianchi.
I’m curious about how you guys feel about these players…shoot!

I like the way you think. Dossena would be great as a left back. As far as left/center midfield…Jankovic rides the pine. He’s good with both feet and can easily play on the left. Scurto is a good defender. But he’s on contract with Roma I think. Do we still have a piece of Bovo? I like him as well.
For keeper, Amelia, De Sanctis or Abbiati would be great. Abbiati and De Sanctis both ride the pine in Spain and Livorno are going down for sure. They’ll all be available sooner or later.

Acquafresca and Foggia are both players I like too for attacking purposes. Not too sure on Foggia’s owner situation but we were chasing him earlier this year.

Amelia needs to stay in Livorno…
But Dossena wold fit in perfectly with Palermo

I saw Consigli play in the U-21 against…Croatia, I think. In any case…wow, he stood on his head (it is hockey season isn’t it). On the striker front, I wouldn’t be surprised if Napoli dump Emmanuele Calaio. He’s been our capocannonieri for two years running but only getting garbage time under Reja’s setup. I think it’s a mistake mind you as he’s a valuable center forward who is physical, can hold up the ball and dish it off and is a monster in the air. Yeah, we don’t need that. He was born in Palermo so there have been some rumblings about his going home.

Marco, I can’t see Amelia going down with Livorno:) He’s gonna jump ship, and fast.
I’d love to see Calaio paired up with Miccoli: two testoterone bombs up front. Fireworks guaranteed.

steven your nutts if you say just give Amauri away to Rome like that especially for those 2, dont get me wrong they are 2 up and comming strong attacking players but we need Amauri as long as possible and im pretty sure he would stay with palermo if we qualify for the champions league ( not impossible) and maybe even for the UEFA.
And also i agree about biava and agliardi lets get them the hell out of palermo its not where they should be plus we need some cash since we dont have any major sponsor

yeh we definitely need a sponsor. we aren’t Barcelona. Vucinic is a lot younger than Amauri so if the right offer comes a long we should think about taking it. It’s not like Palermo has the reputation of Inter where if they sell a player they can attract big names. Unless we get Champions League Ball, we won’t be able to directly replace Amauri and he’s gonna wanna leave.

yeah but Amauri is 10x better then vucinic he also worth bigg money so we keep him, his value goes up hes only 26 calm down
and about the sponser what the hell does that mean “we arent Barcelona” what do you mean because we arent as bigg a club we shouldnt have a sponser look at all the european clubs they all have sponsers we are (were) in the second largest european competiton short lived but we still were good enough to play in europe.Posted from

Gio calm down. I meant Barcelona were like the only team that never had a sponsor. Now they have Unicef, who aren’t even really a sponsor. It seems like you have a lot of blind faith towards Palermo. Vucinic is a very, very good player. He hasn’t really gotten a fair knock at Roma, but if you remember he scored 19 for Lecce a few years ago. Amauri has never scored 19. I’m not saying Vuc is better but it’s not like teams are gonna pay Kaka prices for Amauri. Amauri is not 26 hes 27 and Vucinic just turned 24. Amauri is gonna go sooner or later. He’s not gonna stay at Palermo to make 1 or 2 million Euros a year when he can be making 5 or 6 in England or at one of the bigger clubs. Amauri will not go for less than 25 million Euros which is great, I hope he goes for more so we can strengthen the squad. If you wanna hear it or not, players will move on. Cavani and Miccoli won’t be here forever and either will Barzagli or Zaccardo. While I would love them to stay, chances are they are gonna chase the paycheck and Champions League glory. I will support Palermo till the day I die but you have gotta have a reality check sometimes.

I’m going with Ricci on rhis one. As is said in the post, I love Amauri to death, but he’s not gonna stick around unless we make it to the CL. just look at what happened with the monument of Club-love, Lucarelli.
If he wants to stay after this year, fantastic! But as soon as he’s dropping lines like ‘I love Inter’…cash in! We’re not a team that can refuse to sell big names yet, and if we do, we’re bound to go the same way Fiorentina, Lazio and Parma did.

obviously he not gunna stick around forever but im saying “milk him out as long as possible” ha, and my bad about the sponser i thought you were being sarcastic but i still dont think vucinic is worth it.
