I am the Perez Hilton of Calcio
By: Steven | July 16th, 2008No, not because I’m slightly overweight, wear pink shirts and like to take it up the pooper (which I don’t), but because I bring you lots of rumours and gossip without any real sources!
As we all know by now, Milan has found a replacement for their fat, kinda gay lookin’, underperforming Brazilian. His replacement is, well, another fat, kinda gay-lookin’, underperforming Brazilian. In the meantime, half of Palermo still seems to be leaving and we’re after half of Serie A to replace them.
First, the good news. Sergio Floccari is not coming to Palermo. Sabatini blew up the deal, so he’s done his first good job. But Floccari probably won’t be staying in Bergamo, as another team is already on the look-out. Who? Genoa. That’s right, Foschi’s Genoa.
More good news: Emo’tino is getting playtime next year! At Triestina, but it’ll still be a chance for him to make some progress. Our other young potential, Edgar Cani, is close to a loan to Ascoli.
Seems like Udinese is after Mattia Cassani. Zamparini said he’s not going anywhere. I can’t blame him. I think you all might remember a little something called ‘kaboom!’:
Bresciano, on the other hand, is not untouchable. Not only is he transferlisted, but he’s even being offered to teams. Like Roma. They need a new benchwarmer now that Esposito is getting some playtime.
Too bad for Ricci, but Zigic ain’t coming. Zamp said that ‘he’s not needed at the moment’. Good, we can splash the cash on someone else. Someone like the person who said this yesterday:
“Per me è davvero un piacere ed un onore essere accostato ad una grande squadra e ad una società seria come quella rosanero.”
Wanna know who said that?

That’s right, Lil’ Abate. I love him. I love him like Martha loved Figo. And Vieri. And me.
And one last thing: we’re still after Michaël Chrétien, because Dellafiore seems to be leaving. A little more about him: he’s french-moroccan (which means he combines couscous with baguettes at dinner time), in six season he played 174 games for Nancy, scoring 9 goals. Oh yeah, and he looks like a tuffguy.

plus he came out and said that every single thing comes thru him now.
so, as soon as i say this…TMW reports that the latest name circulating around is this 22 year old columbian kid named Juan Camilo Zuniga who plays for Atletico Nacional…apparently considered the new “Cafu” (pshhh). Nonetheless, he says that Palermo and Siena are tracking him big time, and that if he doesn’t find an agreement by tomorrow, he’s going to re-open negotiations with Boca Juniors and Sao Paolo…pretty gutsy eh? lol

daaaayyyyyummmm…here’s another update:
Palermo is trying to put the top off the transfer market with a “cherry on top…” that being Thiago Neves - a brasilian trequartista who is only 23 years old, but has already been called up by the national team. We’re battling Napoli for his services…hey, we need a backup for when Miccoli gets hurt. it’s only a matter of time, no?

Are we trying to get Abate on loan or co-ownership or full. Milan has stated they wanna loan him out i dont think that it is worth it for us. Give him experience and when he gets good we dont get compensated by MIlan.

Cani is official on transfer to Ascoli. Hope he does well for them he def needs the playing time..

Are you suggesting I don’t still love Figo?!
(Just wait, Abate’ll happily be saying the same thing — but with “granata” in it — if he ends up in Turin.)

Holy crap Martha!! I’ve wondered where you’ve been. I’d love to hear (read) what you’ve got to say about Adriano coming back to Inter.

NEVES!! what a coup that would be for us, he is such a great player!
I’m gonna write in to Tim Vickery on World Football phone in on BBC, and see what he thinks of all these South Americans. His knowledge in this category is unparalleled.

Anthony, I wanted to sell him last winter when the insane prices were being thrown around and am totally unconvinced that he’s turned his life around, so I’m not at all optimistic about how this’ll work out. That said, though, both he and Mourinho are making positive noises, and all the papers seem to think he’ll play at the head of an attacking trident — even I can admit an in-form Adriano supported by Zlatan and Balotelli is worth dreaming about, if only for a little while.

I agree with you about him turning his life around, but you know how he is with father figures, and if Mourinho has faith in him, and Adriano knows it, then who knows what he’ll do.
I thought you were done here. I missed you Martha!

He’s had his moments since he left Inter, for sure, it’s just a question of committing to doing things right, which has been a challenge for him lately. You’re right, though, if anyone can convince him it’s worth it, it’s definitely Mourinho (via all the tools of emotional manipulation in his massive arsenal).
Thanks, Anthony! I’m back sort of — writing a blog on a little French team, and trying to hang around more.

The rumour in Florence is that Neves is the reason that Corvino is in South America. He’d look very good in purple.

Hey, not to change subject, but I think I read today where Palermo sold five more players. Small change to be sure, but it’s the way that a club like Palermo has to operate.
I think that as crazy as the owner is, he has the right idea, assuming he’s using the money on the team and not his personal use. He made a profit on his “big” deals, he’s making money from his small deals (it adds up)… slowly the team gets better and makes more from CL, UEFA money, television and butts in seats.
It would make me feel good that the team is going in a good direction.

MAD, I think a few of those players are youth players who are going out on loan, not being sold for good.

Well, Adriano may still go to Chelsea in some sordid Lampard swap. Also, if he does not cut the mustard, he will be out at Christmas. He and Stankovic both.
Hey Martha, stop by and see us some time!
I also love Figo.Posted from

Yeah, but you get paid when they go out on loan, right? And the other team takes over the salary responsibilities, so it’s still good business.
Posted from

Yeh def still good business, plus 2 of them are real promising and really need 1st team time. Zamparini knows whats up. He’s a crazy bastard but at least he’s got the fiery passion for the team.

yeah some of our youth players are pretty promising. David Curiale for one, Velardi, Cossentino and Romeo, not to mention Carbonaro. I’m excited to see a future Palermo with home grown players starring.

You’re forgetting Sirigu.

Velardi is great. Worst buckteeth ever though.
