End Of Year Transfer Round-Up

By: Steven | December 29th, 2008

I have been neglecting you guys a little for the last couple of days, but aside from my busy schedule and the drinking binge that was Christmas, not much can be said about the first week of winter break. The mercato still isn’t officially opened, so transfer movement is not at full speed yet. But I’ll give a little round-up anyway.

Lanza is gone. After only five months, we seem to have already lost one of our most promising youngsters. Davide went back to Bari, where he played last year, on loan. He’s sure to get a lot more playing time there than he could get in Palermo. Big shame, because he’s clearly a talented player. I still don’t get why Balla didn’t use him more often.

Very close to being shipped away on loan to Sampdoria. As Lorenzo said: kid’s got heart. But heart doesn’t get you silverware. I love to have players around that are dedicated and wear the shirt with pride, rather than moneygrubbing Barzagli’s, but if you can’t play, you’re out. Guana’s got heart too. And if he truly has talent, then we will see it come to the surface at his new team. Maybe it can help him to become a better player.

HDF is likely to be shipped out too. Back to Torino. Ugly Dude isn’t going to get any playing time with Bovo-Beast ripping things up and Kjaer ready to take over, so it might be for the best to get him to somewhere else. Zampa would like to see it happen, but only if it’s a shared ownership.

Inbound transfers will not be big guns. We’re still on the Pazzini-trail, and we’re getting strong competition from Genoa and Samp for Simone Bentivoglio. Aside from that, there are still rumours going around about the arrivals of Sevilla’s Konko and Marco Motta. We still have some time left, but I would be a happy man if we could snatch two out of those last three.

IF Pazzini is willing to sit on the bench (and that’s a big IF), I guess I don’t mind him coming in – only depending on his pricetag. I mean, after Miccoli and Cavani all we have now is Sneeze. Budan is hurt.

Stadionews has a great mercato roundup with all the likely reinforcements and departures.

By the way, my link isn’t very helpful as it’s no longer the “cover story” on Stadionews. It pretty much linked us with names we’ve already heard: Konko, Bogliaccino, Pazzini, Nilmar, etc.

Anyway, Ballardini revealed some stuff to us albeit slyly. You gotta read between the lines:

“Ho chiesto al presidente di mandare a giocare chi non ha spazio – ha dichiarato l’allenatore romagnolo – Poi possiamo pensare anche a rinforzarci. E se dopo aver sfoltito l’organico dovessero arrivare un paio di giocatori importanti la cosa mi farebbe piacere. Non dico i nomi, in questo Sabatini è bravissimo”.

So, basically, if we “thin out” some of these useless parts (Guana, Tedesco, Ciaramitaro…), one would have to think that Sabatini is working behind the scenes as he has always operated. It’s a possibility that a guy we haven’t even been linked with is in talks with the DS.

I just read that galliani has said about Bovo.

WHO THE FUCK DO MILAN THINK THEY ARE? THINKING THEY CAN JUST DECIDE WHAT AND WHO THEY “PICK” FROM ALL OTHER SERIE A TEAMS NOT TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THE LENGTH OF TIME THAT THESE PLAYERS HAVE BEEN AT THEIR CLUBS OR HOW IMPORTANT THEY ARE.

Milan, Inter & Juve piss me off with their disregard for other teams and the way they declare their interest in players in public through tv and radio. It should be illegal to do so in such a way, if you declare public interest in a player then your club should be unable to purchase players for 12months. That would shut the eggheaded TWAT up.

I’d love Zampa to get the fucking mob on that bald twat.

Why do you care that Milan is interested?
    Palermo doesn’t have to sell.
How is declaring interest in a player disregarding a team?

Well….a lotta big teams cut out the other team and put them in a poor position, alla Berbatov+Tottenham.

Fozz, for the record, Zampa praised Juve for our pursuit of Amauri, saying we did everything properly and cordially. :)

Which is true. I for one, wouldn’t be unhappy with a friendly relation with Juve. We might benefit from it, and so may they.

Belgian Pay-TV channel Prime did a special awards-version of their European Competitions program BVO. They even had a Maurizio Zamparini Award for player/manager/prez with the shortest fuse. Zampa went home with his own award, of course. Best Transfer Italy was Amauri, most promising youth player was ADP for entering his second youth.

Samp want Raggi on loan for free, with the possibility to take over 50% in summer for a little over 3 million. Would be good, it’s about half of what we paid if i recall correctly. But West Ham is also interested to add another crappy Italian to the squad.

    Here’s two more:

    * Il Genio is most likely leaving Torino.
    * Cagliari’s Michele Ferri (ex-Palermo) might return as back-up for Cassani.

Fozz has a good point and Alessio just reiterated it. It’s not merely saying “hey, we’re interested in this guy over here. We like what he’s doing.” No, they make it into some sort of proclamation that makes it seem as if the other team should just come in on hands and knees offering up their “best” for the bigs…

Steven – that is hilarious. Zampa taking home his own award. I don’t see it any other way lol.

I know, Man utd did it with berbatov and carrick against tottenham, at least tottenham got GOOD money for both players. It just bugged me how we lost toni and grosso for such cut prices when they were at the peak, especially grosso after his world cup performances, we should of demanded 20million for him!
PHD should be allowed to move on, i believe he has quality but like you say, Kjaer is looking the mutts nuts and cossentino will be in the squad next season.
I know all the declaration is is a compliment to the player, but end of the day milan can pay wages that outmatch ours and it may make our players want to move.

I take back including juve in the same category as milan. theyre sporting director is just a plank of wood. hes quite inoffensive.

I think HDF is a huge talent at either LB or RB. I hope we just send him on loan. He isnt a natural center back.

Fozz i dont know about hotels but i know tickets can be bought at the stadium or in certain Bars.

Fozz – you can buy tickets at the stadium. Otherwise, you can do what i did and arrive 2 hours before game time, go to the employee entrance and pretend you’re someone else and get in for free! haha I wouldn’t recommend it though…my cousin and I were able to pull it off b/c he knew one of his buddies from university who wasn’t going to be there…

Giro – I think Zamparini already confirmed that HDF will only leave again on loan. He values him too much to let him go.

Yeah Steven. I read about that. Supposedly if we sell Bovo to Milan (um, how bout no?), we’ll grab Pasqual from Fiorentina and switch to 3 at the back (Balzaretti, Moris, Pasqual). Doesn’t really make sense to me…

how can you play 2 leftfooted leftbacks in a 3 man defence? Youd need 3 central defenders not 2 fullbacks and a defender. That is complete BS. We wont sell Bovo, and if we did, id be angry.
