Crap Going Out, Nothing Coming In
By: Steven | July 9th, 2009So, 10 days into the transfer market, and it’s too damn quiet. Yes, people are leaving. Lanzafame and Dellafiore are gone to Parma, half of our Primavera seems to be leaving for Serie B, and back-up goalie Ujkani is going to Novara. Oh yeah, and Guana is finally gone for Bologna, while Raggi is close to following him. Ciao Bologna! Latest news is that Ciaramitaro will be leaving as well. Maurizio, not even called up by Zenga for the training camp in Fritzl-land, only has to accept the contract offer from Swiss team Bellinzona (Amauri’s first team).
So, with about half the team leaving, what’s going on on the other side of the transfer market? Nothing much, it seems. Bertolo will be in Italy within 10 days, Pastore is said to be signing his contract this weekend, and there are contacts with Papa and (still) Palletta. We lost Zuniga and Cigarini to Napili, and Onyewu to Milan. So, who will join us next season?
This is what we need. A keeper, a central defender, a right and left midfielder and a central midfielder. Why, you ask? Well, here goes. Right now, we have Amelia and Sirigu. With our primavera-goalie leaving, we need another one in case anything goes wrong with the ones we have. Either a near-retirement experienced player, or a guy that just came looking trough the window.
A central defender is needed to replace Moris. I believe in Cossentino, but I’m not to fond of Bovo. Dude makes too many mistakes, and who’s going to replace him when he accumulates yellow cards? Kjaer + Cosse in central defense together is not a good idea, yet. And Miggs isn’t the guy for that position. A central midfielder is also needed. Liverani is still out, and Nocerino isn’t up to leading the team yet. Wingers, we need desperately. Bresciano is the suck, and I have no idea who to play on that right flank. Mortadella?
Too bad there aren’t too many names being thrown around. Sabatini seems to be talking with his counterpart at Lecce for Edinho, Kalinic’s agent is still talking about him coming to Palermo but that’s about it. It’s still early, but with almost every team in Italy making surprisingly good transfers, we’re definitely staying a little behind…

hey lorenzo, can you translate that editorial please? thanks!
if we got Rosina and Dezemaili *which torino owes us* and a solid cb, we are #4 in italy.Posted from

seriously if we got those 2 and a solid cb i wouldnt fear many teams .. inter and juve will be strong as usual .. but we shown on our day we can pretty much hand their ass to most of the big teams .. its the inconsistency against the crap teams we need to sort out .. liek when miccoli/simplicio go missing and cant be bothered to play well.

Calcio Italiano is living in a moment of difficulty, there are few teams that have made important investments but Palermo seems to be the only one to have understood the right road to follow. Walter Sabatini since he arrived, together with President Maurizio Zamparini, have taken a risky decision but really the only one practical: to point on the youth. In just a few months, they have been able to put at the disposition of Coach Walter Zenga the best the international transfer market has to offer, Mchelidze, Hernandez, Kjaer, Pastore, Bertolo among those added to Cavani, and the youth team Champions of Italy Mazzotta and Conti. Therefore, it isn’t a risk for Zenga to talk about the scudetto, maybe not this year but with shrewd management of the team, valuing the younger players and selling them when they reach their peak value, Palermo can point towards a long period of important goals assuring themselves at the same time with an active budget (positive).

well, if you think about it, if serie a clubs could only play guys under 25 we’d be the strong favorites to win the league

Gigi … it’s not our consistency against the crap teams we need to sort out. Rather, it’s our inability to get a good run of wins away from La Favorita!

Problems with the Dzemaili-transfer: they don’t want Succi.
Expect a new post tomorrow, busy day, national holiday.

alright lads just come back from a mini break on the amalfi coast and naples, got talking to a couple from palermo and he ended up giving me one of his old shirts as a gift. its white with a pink and black band across the middle with the palermo logo at the front. its a recent one any idea what season its from?
i got talking to the bloke and had a few drinks with him while our better halfs talked of who knows what, and he says next season could be amazing for both naples and palermo. he completely believes that both teams are good enough to really make a push for the top 4, roma are a joke and milan is a sinking ship. if the refs dont fuck both teams over of course.
he was a little bit pissed that more of the primavera squad havent been called up especially misuraca, he said he saw gianvito play a couple of times and hes convinced hes got world class potential.
definitely going to be an interesting season really looking forward to some serie a action now!

that sounds like an 05 shirt alex.
pls get this Dzemaili deal done. If they want Budan, fine. We have plenty of big body strikers, we don’t need an injury prone 29 year old fatass.

Misuraca scored against Juve today, we should have kept him and shipped out Budan

the bloke i was talking to was unhappy misuraca left on co-ownership but at the same time he will get played more and its not as if vicenza (is that where he is?) will put up much of a fight to keep him. i would be more worried about sabatinis penchant for young southern americans, pastore excluded of course.

Curiale to Cittadella.
Like i said we should have shipped out budan .. he isnt young and we should get rid of him before we have to release him on a free transfer for 2 consistent seasons of horse shit performances.
Damn it do a mega deal and get us Dzemalli/Rosina!

I find it insanely cruel that Zenga would even mention D’Agostino as someone he’d like to have when we know he’s easily out of our reach!! He shouldve kept it to himself lol

We should throw a 15+ million dollar bid at Udinese for D’ago. If we got him there is no doubt in my mind that were top 4.

A couple days ago, Zenga chewed out the entire defense after a friendly because they were giving up goals – especially to teams that should be shut out. In particular, Mazzotta and Terranova were singled out. There’s still time to get in form, but we need to realize that Mazzotta is still young and raw…keep expectations for him realistic and not expect him to be the new Maldini haha.

“Why can’t Palermo win the Scudetto? I agree with Zenga. No-one can say he is crazy,
He wants to give the team the right motivation and the necessary determination to confront the Italian league. Mental motivation is very important in football, in some cases more important than physical fitness.
He motivated his claims on Bordeaux winning the French league, Shakhtar Donetsk winning the UEFA Cup and Wolfsburg winning the Bundesliga.
The important thing is to believe in it. It doesn’t matter if people laugh at the claims. Zenga will do well with Palermo.”- lippiseriously though if zenga can get you playing the same quality football as last season but with a winning mentality there is no reason you cant push for 2nd-4th spot. im almost getting carried away with the thought of napoli and palermo in the champions league the only thing can stop us are the refs and scum like berlusconi.
milan is on the brink, roma is fucked and fiorentina have hit a brick wall now is the time to crack those fuckersPosted from

all three teams you just mentioned alex, have had terrible moves (or non-moves) in the mercato. i’m sure fiorentina have something up their sleeve, but what is MILAN doing? roma is in a financial mess…
Napoli has moved really well so far. Palermo has been dealing, but we’re still missing a signing or two in order to be complete.
I completely agree with Zenga’s mentality. Instill some tenaciousness and grit…that’s what we need.

we need another midfielder and another defender.
Is the Aussie on his way to Arab-land?
Did Zampa merely tease us with Dzemaili? Please tell me we’re still in the running for him.

Though 2 teams from il mezzogiorno dropped into Serie B, with only 1 team to replace. Thankfully, a real team from the south with history. (ahem, Lecce/Catania)

Lecce, I couldn’t care less, even if we have the Ultra-link. Reggina, I’ll miss.

U know what sucks about Dzemall is he was on loan to Torino and they signed him u for pretty much nothing at the end of it…. Annoying!
