Beaten Black & Blue

By: Steven | October 30th, 2009

On Sunday, Genoa’s ready to kill us off (or so they hope), so you guys are going to get a preview later this weekend. In the meantime, Lorenzo hit the nail on the head with this analysis:

“I am not disappointed about yesterday’s game. The first half was atrocious but come on. Zamparini is dead on when he says that the call Inter received on the PK 6 minutes in would’ve NEVER been awarded to us if we were in the same position. That doesn’t mean that we got completely owned in the first half, because we did. It was brutal. I think one of the most vital mistakes was Cavani’s miss right in front of goal. You have to AT LEAST put that on target. Right after that, there was a huge defensive lapse that led to 2 goals in 2 minutes. Nonetheless, the ref did miss the penalty on Samuel while he was doing his best Kobe impression on Kjaer haha.

What a second half though! Zenga did something that nobody else had been able to do – keep the squad focused despite being realistically out of the game. Miccoli was a man possessed – and as i said before, a true captain. Abel looked great as well, but before we start clamoring for him to start, you have to realize that Inter were giving the young kid space to work. Cassani was BRILLIANT – without Balzaretti he definitely played one of the best games I have seen him play. Sirigu – even though he let up 5 goals – had some very solid play, minus the miscommunication with Kjaer on the goal.

In any case, I hope to see this squad take it to Genoa this weekend. Amelia is good for 2-3 mistakes a game right? The question is, will Zenga give Rubinho the start over Sirigu b/c he’s facing his old squad? I guess it depends on if he recovers from his “shoulder injury” in time, but i think he’s ok.

And, Zenga’s only mistake was throwing Melinte out there to the wolves in his Serie A debut. yikes…how about a do-over? I can’t see him getting the start this weekend.”

Couldn’t agree more, ‘Zo.

And last but not least: how bad-ass is he?

Lets not over exagerate we have been playing well .. we were never going to beat inter away .. we didnt conceed a goal against one of the stronger teams in the league.. but yeah the performance was pretty uninteresting. Miccoli was crap tonight .. his free kicks his through balls .. simplicios passing was nothing short of awful. Pastore and Cavani def should have stayed on .. I liked hernandez work rate .. we still need more players coz our depth is shocking .. missing balzaretti has shown us this. Bresciano is just .. he is a nothing player .. he is so average now … I hate hate when we resort to long balls … especially when half the time they are hit at miccoli .. logic?

I think we will draw away at bologna and people will go doom n gloom but i have a feeling we will pound the elephants at home this year and I think we can take chievo away and beat cagliari and siena at home … lets be positive .. but fuck me do we need some creativity in the middle.

Were also missing Balza which is huge. We play so much betting in 3-4-1-2 but with out Blaza we cant really play that formation. I say Simplicio for Ledesma in Jan. Balla really wants him at Lazio and we need a Vice-liverani.

Did you know that he is half Sicilian, half Calabrese? “They” were talking about moving Cavani for Giovinco in the Winter. IDK how many of you knew this ( or remembered) but I think that he could fill in for Liverani if he added 50 lbs of muscle b\c at 5′ 4-1/2″ @135 lbs. he’s not the most physical player but heyy Miccolino’s only 5′6″ but just look at his Calves. He’s a gem I’m telling you

Cavani works a hell of alot harder for 90 mins .. yeah he has erratic finishing days but that will improve with age .. keep lil frankenstein. Giovinco is a miniature Miccoli thats discovered his skills earlier in life.

So guys January is close .. who do you think we should be targeting to bring in and who should we sell?

I think dudes like morganella and Melinte need to be shipped out on loan to serie B until the seasons end to let them progress in italian football. Id make some money on rubihno because he isnt even 50% of what sirigu has shown himself to be.

Bresciano? Leave .. we wont get any money for him now which sucks we could have made 3 or 4 mil off some EPL club for his useless ass last year. Succi .. leave …
Maybe this will surprise ppl but i think we should cash in on fozzy bear .. but since he is zampas love child i dont see it happening.

Who to sign ? I have no idea whatsoever … I like hernandez upfront when ive seen him but maybe he would also benefit from the 2nd part of the season in serie b and we could bring in another STK.

We clearly need a creative mid .. and wide players .. backup for balza and cassani i cant believe that wasnt one of our main perogatives this summer.

We have some work to do to the squad long season left.

I think lazio will be happy to sell their whole team at this rate .. foggia would be a great signing.

Who would have thought after the begining of last season we would all be begging for Humus return from injury eh? lol

candreva or andrea poli would be perfect as a backup for liverani and would then replace him in the future

I think Ledesma would be the most realistic and cheapest option for a vice-liverani. Ballardini really needs Simplicio so he doesnt get fired.

liverani will be back by then therefore making our left mid our weakest position…

    Foggia >>>>>> Ledesma

We do need a vice-Liverani though, I just think Ledesma blows

Foggia would be a nice addition but the thing I think were missing the most is a Regista. If we had Liverani in and Blazac out I think it woulnt be as it has been with the vice-versa.

my number 1 signing would be someone like Pulzetti or Candreva, a versatile midfielder with a quick burst of speed. Something we just lack a ton right now.
