Barzagli to…….Palermo?
By: Giuseppe | June 26th, 2007
Barzagli has been linked to Fiorentina and Juventus so It seemed he was definitely NOT going to be in pink and black next season. Word is, the Colantuono doesn’t want Barzagli to leave. I doubt that the odds he stays in Sicily are very good, but I really would like to see him stick it out another season.
Caracciolo is gone! Zampa sent his ass to Lazio. Amauri, VERIFIED, is not going anywhere. His agent verifies that he is staying at Palermo and since Corini was canned he will become the new captain. Former Juventus forward Nicola Amoroso scored 17 goals for Reggina last season and has been linked with a possible move to Palermo….sounds good to me.
The most exciting news bit right now though is the new Italian betting scandal, starring none other than David Di Michele! And I say “starring”, because anyone who has ever seen Di Michele play knows how well he can also act. (or miss shots from right in front of the goal..) FOX SOCCER NEWS had the following to say:
“The 31-year-old striker, who plays for Serie A side Palermo and has made six appearances for Italy, together with Vicenza’s Massimo Margiotta, Atalanta’s Thomas Manfredini and Mantova’s Vincenzo Sommesse, is accused of placing bets on football matches organised by the FIGC, either directly or indirectly through a third party…It has long been forbidden for any player in Italy to bet on matches in their own championship, but in 2005 the FIGC extended that ban to include any form of gambling.”
The penalty is anywhere between 3 months, to 3 years. (correct me if i’m wrong) Now i’m not concerned at all about Di Michele not being able to contribute to the team, but if he gets suspended he is going to be a lot harder to sell to another club, and waste payroll that could be going to some other (good) player.

Soon, Marecello. Stadionews recently said something very optimistic about his knee, though of course I can’t find the link now.
