Barzagli to Fiorentina?
By: Giuseppe | June 7th, 2007
Several sources have hinted Palermo center back Andrea Barzagli Is “very close to a Fiorentina move”.
Barzagli, one of Palermo’s star defenders, has 8 national caps for the Italy U-20 team, 15 for the U-21 team and 13 for the National Team. He was a member of the squad that won the 2006 Olympics and the squad that took bronze in the 2004 Summer Olympics. He was signed by Palermo in the summer of 2004, and made 108 appearances for the club.
On the off-chance the Fiorentina do not seal the deal, links to other big name clubs have also been floating around. It’s rumored that if Inter can’t seal the deal with Chivu they want Barzagli as an insurance policy, and Juventus are also interested in Barzagli.
With all of that being the case, it’s safe to assume Barzagli will not be in pink and black next season. This is truly sad, because Barzagli was a good, CONSISTENT player-and that is what Palermo has been lacking. While the defense remained solid, our midfield and are strikers, due to injury or ability, bounce back and forth all season long. I could think of at least….(6?) players I’d like to see leave before Barzagli, alas, on behalf of the Palermo fans who read The Offsides-
Thank You Andrea Barzagli

At this rate, and tell me if I’m wrong, but getting in by the skin of our teeth to land a UEFA Cup spot seems like a waste of time now.
Maybe I’m just a little upset.

You know, i’ve heard a lot about how may be going out for Palermo, but not too much about whose coming in. And when I do hear things about who may be, it’s vague and the same players are associated with the big clubs….I hope Zampa has some surprises for us

Thats what I mean. It seems that Zampa is having a human yard sale, thinking cash is better than a team.
As for surprises, Zamparini never disappoints. They just happen to be the ‘not so fun’ type.

I guess Barzagli was really ticked about how Palermo has treated Corrini. Palermo’s president, while entertaining as hell, is really going to be a long term detriment to the squad. The sooner he moves on the better off Palermo will be.
