Balls Out, a.k.a. The Coppa Run

By: Steven | November 26th, 2009

Delio’s in the house. And tonight, he kicks off his career as a Palermo-coach against Reggina in the Coppa Italia. Rossi won the competition last season with Lazio and already stated he wants to do that trick again with Palermo. See, this is where he’s different from Zenga: aiming for the Coppa, not the Scudetto. I still believe this team can take the Coppa: half of the teams don’t give a shit, because a) they already have the scudetto race and a European competition to worry about, or b) because they’re already fighting to stay in Serie A/B.

The second argument is where Reggina comes into the picture. They were relegated from A last year (still a very sad story, as it is undeniable there was a huge amount of talent) and are now struggling in B. Last time I checked, they were in a relegation spot. Coach Ivo Iaconi already said he doesn’t give a shit about tonight’s game.

But you know who does care? Io. I want something in that trophy cabinet soon. Scudetto is impossible, so the next best thing is the Coppa. Hell, if Lazyo could win it last year, why can’t we? The only thing that scares the shit out of me, is the news that Delio is playing Rubinho in stead of Il Salvatore. Up front, he’s going for a Miccoli – Fat Lazy Croat partnership. I’ll keep my comments for myself until after the game, but I don’t like the look of it…

Predicition: a hard-fought 2-1.

I don’t mind the heated exchanges, but please not another one where at least one of the parties hasn’t even actually read what the other wrote about him… Your response would be a lot more effective, Giuseppe, if you actually responded to what Giro actually said (& he didn’t say you quoted goal.com–you missed the point).

But, yeah, unfortunately (for Palermo’s performance so far) the way Cavani’s been playing, all that talk about the big clubs with their eyes on him at the start of the year has gotten awfully quiet.

In fact, I can now do a wordless imitation of Cavani’s body language after blowing another golden opportunity and my wife knows exactly who I mean, though she’s barely seen any of the games.

I LOVE cavani’s finishing, especially when he had that chance early on in the first half he just balooned it 10+ feet over the goal…Just beautiful

The reason miccoli has been getting knocked is he has been lazy this year .. nobody doubts his skills .. he has been a lazy fuck and making bad decisions when in on goal alot.

Im not going to get super excited about this win. But what I did like was the PASSING game we had. Liverani really controlled and distributed the ball well something we’ve been missing. Now lets pray to Allah that Liverani doesnt get hurt.
