Back In Town
By: Steven | August 15th, 2008Come stai, ragazzi? I’m back after a couple of days of well deserved relaxation. And no, I haven’t done anything in Pedaso expect for resting my ass on the beach, by the pool and in the gelateria. Oh yeah, and I spent a lot of time with my favourite holiday-companion:

First of all, I have something to say to some people:
To Alessio: it hurts my heart to see Amauri in that prison-striped shirt, but it hurts me even more that Juve have now gotten some sort of ‘face’. It’s harder to hate you and your boys now that my all-time favorite player is one of yours now.
To Lorenzo: thanks a lot for keeping the boys busy while I was away.
To Tommaso over at the Lecce-blog: va scassaci la minchia, cazzo di merda.
And now to the news of the day.
Gazzetta-news
So the Gazzetta did some part about the pre-seasons of all Serie A-teams this week. They compared transfers, pre-season games and the happiness in the squads, and guess what: we were rated “:)”. Not bad. What did they have to say? Except for that terrible defeat against the Lega Pro-team, all of our pre-season friendlies were good. The Gazzetta saw a team that was completely ready to go for it, even without the presence of Nocerino. This is what they stated as the perfect line-up:
Amelia
Raggi – Kjaer – Bovo – Balzaretti
Migliaccio – Liverani – Nocerino
Miccoli
De Melo – Lanzafame
To me, this seems the perfect line-up. Maybe Jankovic can be fitted in there somewhere, but the fact that they didn’t include Guana make me a happy camper. I got even happier when, the next day, they published a list of players the teams in Serie A should get rid of. Because there is no place on the team for them, or because of their bad influence. Number one on the list: Eccelenza’s future MVP.

He was accompagnied by: Federico Agliardi, Ciro Capuano, Mattia Cassani, Simplicio, Bresciano and Cavani. Strange list. I agree with most of these guys, but not with the Cassani-thing. As Lorenzo already said, he may not get lots of playing time this year, but that was the same thing at the start of last season. Once Pisano and Diana were out of the picture, Mattia took his chance and played one hell of a season. And he will always remain a hero for that Juve-screamer. I say we keep him, if Raggi gets hurt we need a replacement. Cavani then. Some of you still think he’s got potential, I see him as the new Ernesto Farias. Send him out on loan, and then we’ll see.
And this comment might shock you: I hope we keep Ciro Capuano until january. No, you didn’t misread that. ShitPants seemed to have impressed everyone in the pre-season games, and somehow he has gotten better after his surgery.
Last but not least, this is what the pink paper had to say about the Wolfsburg-game: “This is a Palermitano team that doesn’t deserve not playing European football this season. Not only are they ready for Europe, they might have even gotten very far in the competition.” Wow.
Pechino 2008: Italia – Belgio
Wow. Again. First of all I didn’t even expect my fellow countrymen to advance, but a game against Italy is so nice. I think it’s clear who I’ll be rooting for. It sure won’t be the likes of Dembele, Mirallas, Ma-Kalambay and Pocognoli. (See? None of these guys are even native Belgians!) I hope they put in a good performance, but seeing Our Boy Nocerino kicking the shit out of them would be so much nicer.
But there also a downside to a possible win. Isn’t Antonio going to be too fuckin’ tired to start the new season? It’s not as if playing in Beijing is healthy, and he has gotten some knocks already. And did you guys know that our Antonio shares a hobby with Tommaso’s butbuddy Cassano?

The Androberto Guaracciolo-Award
Fantastic idea by Lorenzo. From now on, we’ll have another weekly post next to the Preview, Review and Video of the Week. After every match day you guys can nominate your favourite Androberto Guarraciolo of the giornata.

And last but not least, there’s this. Do you guys remember that totally gay tattoo-picture of Andrea Bovo? Well, get a load of this.
“Does this make me look less like a gay retard?”
“Dude, I was so drunk when I got this one…
Never knew Marco Pisano liked Depeche Mode…

I don’t think I’d go that far. He was pretty motivated with us in his first year, and his results back that up.
On another note, I wish we’d make some bids for Appiah, Banega or Neves. Appiah is being linked with Genoa, Banega with Doria and Neves…well, he’s been silent for awhile. It should heat up though now, since Brasil got thrashed this morning. All 3 names are well within our reach financially…and with the sale of Bresciano, we’ll need another mid that is in the same role as he was.

Banega is so legit, so creative. Him and Nocerino would be great together. If he goes to Sampdoria I will absolutely kill Sabatini.

Lorenzo, Neves’ club won’t negotiate with anyone until after his Olympic campaign is over…which it now is b/c he got a straight rosso in their loss to Argentina today, so no 3rd place game for him. I don’t see us getting him though, Barca, Tottenham and other big clubs are circling.

I dont think Tottenham need or want Neves. They already signed Dos Santos and Bent bought the same type of players. I like Appiah dude is a free agent no money out of our pocket. As for Banega doesnt he have a high price tag?

Australia played Sth Africa in a friendly last night in London – score was 2-2. Our Bresciano set up the first Aussie goal with an absolutely beautifully weighted long lob. Go here to see the goal: http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,24211504-5014539,00.html

Samson -
just like you with Chievo…or wait, Roma…or is it Chievo? Regardless, Chievo is the other team from Verona…and Roma, well, they’re the wannabe “big” team in Serie A.

I nominate Palermo for the ugliest team in Serie A. Here are our stars of ugliness in no particular order.
1. Liverani – looks like Xerxes from 300
2. Migliaccio – looks like he just escaped from a mental hospital
3. Guana – no explanation needed
4. Simplicio – the Brazilian fozzy bear
5. Cavani – just got dreads. DREADS.
6. Raggi – def has gigantism
7. Kjaer – oversized Q-tip
8. Miccoli – eyebrow lines, hair lines…Imagine if we still had Caserta.
This is why we need to hold on to Ciaramitaro. Him and Tulio are like our only pretty boys. If we lose him we are a team of cavemen wearing horrendously ugly pink jerseys. (Thanks Lotto)

I say Fontana is the heartthrob of the group, his allure outweighs the ugliness of most players.

You guys forgot to mention Carrozzieri – extra from Planet Ape.

Italy

Carrozzieri’s is without a doubt Serie A’s ugliest player.
And KJ, I’ve decided not talking too much about it as it isn’t appreciated by the Roma bang gang.

Cavani looks straight like Sloth from the Goonies

anyone know where to catch the coppa italia match?

I guess we can throw Lanzafame and Balzaretti into the “pretty boy” mix…they’re both trying to hold it down with Tulio & Co. Although, Balzaretti’s trying to go “tougher” with the mohawk he’s rocking.
