Lost credibility!?! Are you serious? You’ve GAINED credibility in my mind. It’s easy for those who aren’t Sicilian to cheer for a top squad in any league…the fact that you chose Palermo over all others (with some good decisions along the way haha), shows your dedication to the team AND I’ll give you that 40% haha.

No man, I’m 100% Flemish. Go on and have a laugh. And everyone I meet asks me for this. So here it goes…

In the summer of 2001, I was travelling with my parents trough the North of Italy, Austria and Slovenia. One day, me and my dad went to have a look at the training camp which was held in the town. My dad was a huge Serie A-fan, and I went along. One of the teams there was Palermo, and after a sweet game against a local amateur side, I got the shirt of Davide Bombardini. Since then, the year of the return to Serie B, I’ve been following them.

A couple of years later, the year of the promozione, I met a girl with Sicilian roots, and since then I’ve been nuts about the team. They were the reason I learnt Italian, they were the reason I’ve traveled to Gelsenkirchen, Bergamo and London to watch a football game and they’re the reason I spent way too much money on all things football.

But trust me, these days, I consider myself 40% Sicilian. I can make perfect arancini and Pasta con le sarde, I know the hand gestures and i’m learning Sicilian. Maybe I’m not Sicilian by birth, but I hope that’s okay with yoy guys

Have I lost all credibility now?

I’ve only had them the size of baseballs (arancini). And maybe because I love my grandmothers neckbones and meatballs, is the only reason I can, maybe, eat two. Put my father and I up to a table thats full of neckbones, and you’ll see, and hear, the most foulest thing ever.
