A game with nothing to win or lose for either team. The only thing worth mentioning is this:

goal.com sucks. A lot of the times most of the rumors start right here. Someone brings up a player and say he would be good at so and so club and BAM! it’s on Goal.com the next morning. Most of the writers on there just straight poach stories from some of the bloggers on here too.

And they will continue to do just that as long as you guys continue to link to them, cite them, and send them traffic.

To them, anything that generates clicks and page views is golden.

tuttomercatoweb has an English site but it’s pretty terrible. If you can’t read or speak Italian you’re pretty much gonna be out of the loop on real transfer news. Goal.com hits like 1/5 on the head with their one reporter who can read Italian and he gets the story from an Italian newspaper which came out the day before.

Giro I like Channel4’s football Italia page, in english, but in Italian the italian version of Goal.com is much much much better than the english version.

Apparently Amauri’s agent wants Zampa to pay 2mil just to sign the contract…..wtf?

Anyone see Lanzafame, Nocerino, Giovinco, Graziano Pelle and Dellafiore all put in solid performances today for the Azzurrini? Giovinco put in 2 goals, Pelle had an assist and dominated in the air. Literally every lofted ball he won. Nocerino completely shut down everything that went his way and even stole the ball from an Ivory Coast attacker in the air and then continued to juggle it along the touch line. Lanzafame came on as a sub and I gotta say the kid has tons of potential. Had a real quick snap shot on the half volley that he put on target, a lot of guys would have blazed it high but he did well. He also made a few runs at the Ivory Coast defense, threw in a few stepovers and made some nice passes. He played through the middle, looked REAL quick and pacey, I honestly think we could bring this kid in for Jankovic and not miss a beat.

to listen to calcio news giro? go to stadionews.it and click on Calcio Parlato (it’s a banner on the right-hand side). It’s a radio program that airs every weekday that’s exclusive to Palermo news. Our favorites, Guana & Biava were on today…ha!

Goal.com has proven to be almost as bad as Tribal Football. Honestly, i think we could come up with better transfer speculation AND have a better success rate.

I try to use Goal.com as little as possible. Dellafiore, I want him back. Pelle could be a nice asset to the team as well. I’m sorry for the lack of updates guys, expect a big one later tonight.

    Some more rumours:

    * Palermo and CHievo are after Reggiana-youngster Catellani
    * Guana and Biava feel the shit hanging over the fan and tell the world they want to stay
    * Lazio want Cavani
    * Dainelli might be included in the Barzagli-deal

The fact of the matter is that a significant majority of the transfer speculation that is published in Italian is also complete garbage.

There are simply too many economic incentives for that not to be the case. Each of the sports papers has 24 or more pages to fill every day, dozens of tv and radio stations have transfer gossip shows, and the number of websites increases every month.

All of them are highly susceptible to manipulation by clubs, players, agents and general hangers-on, as well as having their own reasons to just make things up.

And as if that is not bad enough, there is now a definite international feedback loop. For example, you can see a highly dubious Spanish report get picked up by a British tabloid, and then reported in the “respectable” Italian papers as “British papers are reporting . . . ” (and vice versa).

The only thing an interested reader can do is to take it all with a massive grain of salt, recognise that nothing is over until it’s over, and completely discount sources like goal.com that have consistently proven themselves to be completely unreliable.

Ursus, thanks for the comments. I do believe most of us are aware of the fact that 99.9% of all rumours are complete and utter bullshit. But you must agree that it’s fun to spend the off-season talking about possible and impossible transfers : )

Lazio on Cavani? Ottimo, let’s exchange him with Foggia or Behrami.
btw Raggi’s agent has confirmed Palermo’s serious interest in the defender. If he’s to come, I see either one of Bovo and Dellafiore on their way out.
And, HELL NO I don’t want Dainelli nowhere near Palermo.

    Next season…
    Cassani-Raggi-Rinaudo-Balzaretti
    Nocerino-Liverani-Migliaccio
    Jankovic-Miccoli
    De Melo

I’m not all that exited about that line-up, Ricci. Cassani’s good, but no top 5 material. And Liverani, pff, I don’t want him.

Steven, Liverani is the kind of player that we need. I don’t really much like the guy either but he controls the tempo of the game, and his passing is pretty accurate. Cassani I’m not crazy about but I don’t see us getting another RB. Dellafiore or Raggi could play there, but I really don’t see us getting both of them. What would your lineup look like?

Are we going to the envelopes for both Bovo and Dellafiore? If it comes down to it I think I’d rather have Dellafiore.

I also completely forgot that Caserta played for us. Def earned his spot late in the season. Also, what happens with Simlpicio? Nocerino coming in pretty much seals his fate that he’ll be on the bench.

Kat’s line-up would be the ideal starting eleven. Janko and Caserta on the flanks, Bash Brothers Rinaudo and Bovo in the back and the danger of De Melo and Budan.
