Time for some Zampa-action

By: Steven | November 26th, 2007

‘Should he stay, or should he go?’ That is the Million Dollar Question for today. Colantuono was considered the man to lead Palermo to the Champions League, but after 13 matches we’re already 6 points behind a CL-spot, and we are still to show a level of play that might justify a spot in that competition.

I think we need a new coach. Colantuono did great at Atalanta last year, but Atalanta is also doing great without him, and they even lost Migliaccio and Ventola. Palermo has the talent to do way better than we are doing now, but somehow Colantuono keeps on making the wrong decisions. He’s young and talented, but right now we need someone who knows the drill of coaching at the highest level. Lots of you would like to see The Special One come to Sicilia, but I don’t see it happening.

If it was up to me, I’d go for Martin Jol. Jol did a fantastic job at Tottenham, but in the end his players and the management were desperate to get him out. Still don’t know why, and neither did any English newspaper or football analist. Jol knows how to use young talents, isn’t afraid to play an attacking style against better teams and has led a team that wasn’t extremely talented to two consecutive fifth places, height no Spurs-manager before him was ever able to reach. And he’s free.

If Jol won’t come, I see some other opportunities. Quique Sanchez Flores, for instance. He might not be good enoug to take Valencia to the title, but he would be a great coach for Palermo. He’s kinda like Jol when it comes to talented youngsters, and there’s a very soothing cool about his person.

As a third option, i can only see one man. I know he’s got a contract, and he was fired from his last Serie A-job, but the perfect guy to be in charge of a warmblooded team like Palermo is….

SuperSerse

That’s right, he’s as crazy as Zamparini and knows how to play the game. Why not give him a chance?

So, what do you guys think about it? Keep going with Colantuono, or a fresh breeze trough the Barbera? And the first one to mention Capello or Guidolin gets shot. And last but not least, I got a farewell gift to Stefano:

Oh my god, Steven, don’t tease me like that — if you guys get Cosmi, I may actually move to Palermo to witness the magic/madness in person.

It’s a good thing he’s wearing his Ray-Ban, because I have the feeling that his look really could kill.

He’s so, so fantastic, I cannot wait for him to be back in Serie A, whether it’s with Brescia or someone else.

Ah, good ole Guidolin… Atleast I can say I have much respect for the man and especially what he’s done for our club… Not to mention, he did pretty damn good job when he had a healthy Amauri last year…

I guess my only question is: interim or permanent?
